This was debateably better than ABR last year. People really bring out the big guns. I got to try a 1994 cantillon, the entire line of -ation from RR, a couple different NG wild sours, 08'-12' vertical of la follie, the summer winter spring fall set...plus too many more goodies to remember. Im going to bring a tasting book this year. I have a couple good ones saved up for this year. Bring out the whales and let the good times begin!

99 3F OG and B1 50N4E were the highlights for me. Keg Fou'Foune wasn't too shabby either.

What is the $15 for, if people are getting drink tickets in relation to what they bring? Do they provide shirts or does the bar pour samples that they provide, as well? Or is this an independent organization renting the place out?

Im not associated with wtwba, but here's what I observed last year: Republic isnt really associated with this. It seems like they just provided the patio space and food if you wanted it. They didnt pour anything.

When you get there, you give your beers to 'the house'. You get tickets based on what you bring, tickets = a small pour. They weight stuff more or less based on rarity and age or whatever, so if you bring a whale, you get a lot of tickets for it.They put your beer in 'the house' fridge. They distribute and pour the bottles in (what seemed like) no particular order. If you want, they will call your name when opening your bottle so you can get first pour. There were 6 or 8 tables, each with volunteers pouring 4-6 bottles at a time. They get pretty lax towards the end and it was a (wonderful) chore to kill all the beer. We're hoarders so there is plenty to go around. They also put out random bottles into the free for all pile for anyone to drink.

    No shirts

From quickly glancing over the link it looks like either a moderate fee for someone's unaffiliated work or a corkage fee, probably a combination of both. I missed this last year and am still bummed about it. From what I understand an investment of a bottle and $15 yields surplus value relative to the opportunity cost.

Are there any bars bars in the Twin Cities area that do things more along the lines of this kind of sour fest:

    http://www.beachwoodbbq.com/pdf/sour_fest.pdf

    http://blogs.laweekly.com/squidink/2013/09/gabe_gordon_beachwood_sour.php

And I don't necessarily mean or expect the extensiveness of 6 full days of a complete sour tap takeover across two locations, because Beachwood is in a very unique situation to be able to pull that off. But are there any bar owners around here that have at least started to acquire and age kegs with the intent of some sort of sour events down the road? For instance, before the Shelton Brothers pulled out of MN, were there any bars stepping out and buying up some of that stuff to sit on? And B. United is amazing at what they do, but even with that, all the Zymatore beers that I have had, I have had in other states and don't think that I have seen any on tap in MN.

This is by far the best beer fest in the state. I'm pretty pissed I can't be a part of it again.

Hey Jeff! If you want to do a similar thing in Cali let me know, I would love to do anything possible to make it happen. I even have a venue...
