Talking with the staff here at Republic about this Saturday and was told there will be a keg of Fou Foune. This will be my first time, and I'm not gonna fib, it sounds like a bitchin time. If your showing up, what are you bringing?

I'm bringing a Bruery Sans Pagaie, a 2008 Mariage Parfait Geuze, and a 2009 Marriage Parfait Kriek. Looking forward to it!

Was thinking about bringing a Vigneronne and an Odell Deconstruction, but really I have no idea what I should be bringing.

I called over there, they said it was just for 'beer school' and it was just by the bottle. I guess we wait until Saturday.

Hard to say, but there are currently 141 bottles registered, and registration was closed this afternoon.

I was thinking anywhere between 50 and 75 people...This is a very unique idea and I'm excited to go, but part of me is wondering about how much there will be to go around...Also, who determines who brought the "rarest" or "best" beers that deserve the "extra samples and priority pours?" (as stated by the website) Either way, I think this will be awesome and I am looking forward to it very much.

We'll have approx 120 people there for this year.

I poured a very limited amount of Fou' Foune tonight at BBSU as a teaser and to make sure that the work by Rob at BBS is recognized. There is most of a keg left for Saturday.

DaveAnderson... nice bottles, i look forward to a sample of them. I am bringing the Cuvee de Tomme along with quite a few of the beers on the registered list. Unfortunately only about 1/3 of people actually register their beers. The randomness is fun too as we've had 20 year old bottles of Liefmanns, mid-80's lambics, etc... it's all fun.

HomeBrewed, we've had to pour out beers before because we've had so much left at the end of the day. Balance is the key and we excel at it. No, those rares won't stay around but many many great beers will.

Honestly, I only had a passing acquaintance with sours/wilds until Darkness Day last year (although I got my hands on several bottles of Surly Five just on principle when it came out -- I had set aside a Saboteur for comparison when I noticed that the descriptions looked similar). On Darkness Day, I was exposed to several, including Five (again), The Dissident, Golden Delicious, and several from RR (I am certain I am forgetting a bunch).

Two weeks later, I was visiting a friend in Peoria, IL, and got myself invited to a BA stout & barleywine tasting, during which someone opened a Hottenroth for a palate cleanser. It was BY FAR my favorite beer of the night, which included 1989 & 1999 Bigfoot, Black Tuesday, and others.

Then, while visiting family in CA, I tripped over Oude Gueuze Tilquin à L'Ancienne, and the hook set.

I have managed to acquire quite a few interesting bottles this year, and considered bringing 4-5 of them to WTWBA before I realized how many tickets that would yield. Once I saw the list, I pulled back the 2003 Mariage Parfait and Dissident 2008 Reserve, both of which I am trying to decide what to do with, and 2008 & 2012 Cantillon Kriek, which I ended up committing to this year's Darkness Day table. So, it's the Fantome and Cascade. As it turns out, I have tried neither yet, but will be in Portland in November, and should be able to re-stock The Vine.

A few weeks ago, I held in my hands bottles of Yellow Bus and Duck Duck Gooze, but couldn't justify the $300+ prices being asked. My temptation was high.

Last weekend, I went to a friend's cabin, and we drank 2009 Cuvee de Tomme, along with Saint Lamvinus and Hanssens Oude Gueuze & Cassis, among other things. Cuvee de Tomme simply blew my mind. I feel selfish to even hope for a taste of it on Saturday.

    Whatever happens, I am stoked.

I'll be pouring, super excited. Last years WTWBA was my first twin Cities beer event and had a blast. Not sure what I'll bring, the cellar is a little thin right now.

You made a good choice with Yellow Bus and Duck Duck Gooze, I've had the later several times and it is very good, but I would personally never pay scalper prices.

As for the '03 Mariage Parfait, we'll have two '97s on hand and a couple of otherr registered so if you bring it, there is a potential for a bit of a mini-vertical.

    Cheers.

I'm confused. Someone told me it was tomorrow 11-3 and you can just show up (with something). Is that not true?

It's Saturday, 11-3, and you needed to register...registration is full, so you won't be able to just show up.

    Correct, registration is required. http://wtwba.com/#menu-about

You can try to show around noon to see if we have room, but it'll be based on actual attendance.

    Cheers,

    Jeff
