Next month I am heading to Wallingford to visit fiance's family. I was just looking for some recommendations on where to buy some good craft bottles or some good craft bars to check out in or near Wallingford. I will have some transportation but not looking to travel too far.

    Thanks guys!

Knuckleheads (a burger/wings place) just opened a "tap room" with 30 draft lines. Went on Sunday, and they had a great selections. I had a NEBco Gold Stock, and a Resin. My wife had a Dirty Bastard, and an Ovila Plum Quad (just to give you an idea of the kind of selection).

Wallingford Wine and Spirits is a very solid liquor store, and has become a regular stop for me.

Cool, right off s. colony right? I should be able to find that! Her parents always want to go to village green. Thanks!

    Knuckleheads is on Center Street.

Here is their tap list, BTW. Not sure if they're good about updating it:

Wallingford W+S is on N.Colony - I don't know where South becomes North... never got that, but yeah, Center Street is right off that road.

I see they have Founders on tap. Is Founders pretty easy to find in ct/wallingford? If so I may need to send some back home.

Wallingford Wine & Spirits is indeed the only store you need to seek out, but as long as you're in the area you might as well drive 10-15 minutes down the Wilbur Cross Parkway (CT 15) and hit up NEBCO.

    You won't regret it.

Oh, and since you'll only be 20 minutes from New Haven, I might as well recommend Modern Apizza - fresh NEBCO on tap and some of the best pizza you'll ever taste in your life. Also, if you want to head down town you'll find the tag team beer bars of Prime 16 and Cask Republic, both of which are amazing. Closer to Wallingford is Mikro, which always has a solid tap list to go with their truly outstanding gastropub menu.

The Dew Drop Inn in Derby has 20 taps and amazing wings. Also Louis Lunch in New Haven is the birthplace of the hamburger, worth a stop for any burger fan to say you were there.

I'm finally back home. On my trip I ended up flying into MD where I toured the Flying Dog brewery and sampled some great beers. Then drove to CT. I stopped by Knuckleheads a couple of times, had a burger and some good beers I can't find in FL. Also stopped by NEBCO and picked up a growler of their saison. I enjoyed that very much. With little room to pack I was only able to bring back a couple bombers of BA Gonzo from MD. I have one chilling to try tonight. Also I was able to safely transport a Ghandi Bot snifter back home with me. I had a nice trip and some great beers. Thank you for the tips everybody!

Will be back in Wallingford this Friday - Sunday for a short weekend visit. Flying into BDL. Would anyone be able to tell me if I will be able to track down some Heady either on the trip from BDL to Wallingford or anywhere in or around the area? If so maybe point me in the right direction? If anyone around Wallingford would be kind enough to snag and guarantee a few 4 packs for me I would be completely willing to haul some sixers of Jai Alai with me

The closest Heady to BDL is 4 hours north, the opposite direction from Wallingford. You might be able to find someone willing to trade, but seeing as Jai Alai is available next door in NY, I doubt anyone who's made the trip up to VT would be looking for it. Some other Florida brews, maybe, but a flagship like Jai Alai would likely be a longshot, just given the time investment necessary for someone in CT to have multiple Heady 4-packs to spare.

    Good luck, in any case!

Wow OK. I may be misinformed. I was under the impression that it was pretty common in that area.
I could also do some Cucumber Saisons if that helps my chances lol

That might help. But Heady is really only common within 45 minutes or so of the cannery - they don't even send any to southern VT. Anyone in CT who has it got it either via trade or by making the 4 to 5 hour (one way) drive up to Waterbury. Now, of course there are a number of us CT beer nerds who make that trip with some regularity, and it's not terribly uncommon to have someone open one at a tasting, but it's not like it's just sitting on shelves in the area.

If you were just looking for a single can to try, I'd be willing to bet that someone would offer to hook you up for little or nothing in exchange - I certainly would myself if I had any. But if you want multiple 4-packs, that's probably going to take something fairly substantial.

I think we all wish it was common around here, but that's not the case. Throw up an ISO in the trade forum for a trade in person and see if anyone responds.

This isn't true, right? I thought it didn't get shipped up here anymore.

Does it not? I'm not a fan of the beer, myself, so I can't say I pay close attention. I just know that it was readily available in NY the last time I thought to look. Has Cigar City pulled out of NY entirely, or just the IPA?

OK it wasn't all that important to me. Was doing more of a favor since I happened to be headed up that way. Thanks for the information though guys.

Jai Alai deal is back on! J/k

If I was flying out of Tampa instead of Ft. Myers I would offer Good Gourd too
