Thanks for previous responses on the other thread. What about neighborhoods in the city? Hopefully we can stay close enough to walk to all sites, cafes and breweries. I've been told that lower town, Ixelles and Saint-Gilles are all nice areas. Would those who know agree? Using Airbnb and VRBO. Any input is appreciated. Cheers...
I would stay near the Grand Place. Google hotels near that area. If you are taking the train get off at Brussels centraal and just walk down hill
Most of beer-touristy Brussels is easily reached from the center. You don't have to stay right on top of Grand' Place but could do the Sablon, the Marolles or St. Catherine. Even St. Gilles by Moeder Lambic could be a nice walk one way down through Parvis St. Gilles, Porte de Halle, Marolles to the center. If you're an Airbnb person, then you might want to know that Uber is definitely active in Brussels now. It's cut most of internal-Brussels taxi costs by half.
I've stayed at a couple of hotels in Brussels and I found The Atlas to be well located and decent for the price. It can be a bit loud in the am with the children heading to school if the windows are open. Otherwise, very nice.
We spent a few nights here: http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-1046-ibis-brussels-off-grand-place/index.shtml The price was good, parking was easy and next door and the location was great for us. We live in Europe and generally book our rooms thru Hotel.com or Booking.com
Thanks gang, y'all are great. Looking forward to next weeks trip to Brussels, Antwerp and Bruges. Cheers
