Where your batches at?

    We're brewing 2 batches tomorrow, batch 48 and 49. The next batch will be our 50th. Thinking of doing a Golden Anniversary clone for that one :slight_smile:. Which batch number are you brewers on?

    You're supposed to count them? Shit. I knew I've been doing something wrong. I've just been giving them names! :wink:

    My next batch will be my 12th. Started in January doing all grain and have been loving it.

    I haven't counted, but I've been brewing for 5 years and have made maybe 50 batches?

    I'm assuming this is directed at me. I thought I worded it weird lol. I actually started from the beginning doing all grain. I've never even done an extract or partial mash batch. Wanted to do it legit so I read a lot and jumped right in.

    Brewing batch #36 this weekend....

    Started homebrewing 13 months ago with all grain (BIAB) straight out of the gate. Doing very well with BIAB actually....extraction efficiencies ranging from 72-86% depending on malt bill, and actually just produced a batch that yielded 10 gallons of final product in a single 15 gallon kettle! Added kegging to the repertoire a couple of months ago.

    Single tier welded brew stand with 3x BG14 100,000 btu burners, 2 march pumps, ss triclover connectors for everything, Therminator Plate Chiller, and 3xBoilermaker kettles (15g HLT, 15g MLT, and 20g BK) will be fully assembled by the end of the month. Not looking forward to spending an extra hour per brew day to lauter. But I should gain clearer wort, maybe a 5% increase in extraction efficiency, and the ability to clean my entire system at the same time.

    Thinking about possibly drilling a hole and putting a recirculation port into my MLT kettle lid. Might automate to a RIMS system down the road too.

    I have batch 3 fermenting right now. I have caught the bug and once I begin receiving paychecks, I am getting a bigger kettle and a means to fermentation control. I'm guessing 10 more before I go to all grain!

    nice.........to save time, I did an extract 3 weeks ago. Looking forward to comparing it to an all grain batch of the same recipe. If done right, as HB42 used to say, extract can produce some very good beers.

    As an extract brewer, I am and will be nervous when I take the dive to all grain. In the meantime I am going to focus on the fundamentals!

    I started with extract in January. Brewed 3 extract and switched to AG. #8 is almost done bottle conditioning.

    If you know what you are doing I dont think that you could tell the difference between Extract and All Grain. I just brewed a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale clone and several people have had the two side by side in glasses with no label and the Extract has been there choice every time. Not that I don't enjoy all grain brewing but allot of the time I would just rather brew Extract. The price like you said is the killer but then again the time saving to me is worth the couple extra bucks.

    that reminds me of the first time I brewed an orval clone. It was an extract brew. I haven't come closer to the real thing since that batch. I ( we ) have been brewing it for a few years now.

    Batches 58 & 59 are currently dry hopping. Brewing for a little over 2 years, did about 5 extract batches to start before switching to All-grain. I still do the occasional extract batch if brewing on a tight schedule, testing yeasts or adjuncts in secondary or if I'm in need of a fresh IPA or wheat beer and am feeling lazy.
