19, started getting into proper beer a year ago. Wieckse Witte, Belgian Abbey Ales and Paulaner Hefeweissbier got me off lagers for good.

    What exactly qualifies as young?

I'm 27 and I've been drinking craft beer since I was 22. Took a whole year before my eyes finally opened.

Well, 21 years old if you divide my age by 2.44

Been in the beer biz for 19+ years, BA for 9+ and would never end a thread title with a preposition...

Bottom line...age is a number, not a sentence!

29, with the dirty thirty coming in August.

My journey with craft beer is rather unusual. I first started drinking the sort of intro crafts when I was 18. I'd get SNPA, Newcastle, Sam Adams, or even the odd sixer of Deschuttes Black Butte Porter or 12-pack of Spaten Optimator. Only time I'd drink the yellow swill was playing beer pong in college or at a ballpark.

Sometime around 24, I ended up switching to red wine as my go to beverage. Became a member of several wine clubs, did wine tasting trips, etc. A little under a year ago, I started developing early ulcer symptoms because all the tannins in the wines were effecting my stomach. Doctor recommended cutting back on drinking (it's not like I was getting tanked every night, I'd just have a glass or two of wine), I listened to his advice, but decided maybe I'd try switching back to beer first. It worked.

In switching back to beer, I found myself having a more discerning palate that was shaped by my wine sensibilities. I ended up discovering BA and started exposing myself to better offerings within styles that I had already liked (was a stout fan, but hadn't had all the wonderful variations available) as well as trying out styles that I had only had a few of before my wine-loving days. I still have red wine on hand at all times and can drink a glass of that a couple times a week, but I've found craft beer to be my go to and to suit my tastes even more than wine these days.
