I agree, wandering thru my local Lowe’s Foods and I can sip on a Abyss or a Deschutes Black Butte. I’d rate them as outstanding beers. There’s plenty of great beers on the shelves imo, don’t even need to look all that hard. .

Based on their website, Hopslam should be hitting NJ the week of 14 January 2019. While I wasn't to keen on last year's batch (too much grapefruit pith bitterness without the the sweet peach/apricot notes to balance it out), I will still support the cause with at least one 6'er (assuming I will be able to find it)*.

*I will not pay over $18 for a 6'er. It is good, but not worth any more than $3/can.

Gonna disagree with this one.... The local grocery store I frequent while back down in WI can supply you with:

    Toppling Goliath
    Maine Brewing
    3Floyds
    The Brewing Projekt
    New Glarus
    Surly
    etc....

Be prepared to shell out a $20 bill. Price aside from the last bottles I had I wouldn’t buy it at any price. If you don’t like it you don’t like it, and I wouldn’t buy it at half the cost. I can buy beers I love for $8. The fact it’s a seasonal and a mystery year plays no part, I’ve been disappointed for years, and I’d say I have a very forgiving palate. I’m not all that fussy at all. If you love it $20 is a fair enough price, it’s a very polarizing beer, maybe with bcbs the top one or two.

I'm a "singles" buyer much of the time, as I tire of drinking more than one or two of anything in a short period of time, so the $20/six-pack comments are a little lost on me. (You can get a single of Hopslam for 3 bucks here on the barren fancy-beer-deprived prairie by the way).

There are other examples of the style that are better, but this is a solid, tasty brew I seek out every year.

Arkansas and Arizona are fairly similar now, although Arkansas has gotten a lot better in the last two years. Also, I've lived in Virginia, grocery stores, like Wegmans, sell outstanding beer. Sad for you if you miss it. Hopslam has 13,475 ratings with an average of 4.46. You're in the minority. That's fine. I don't like Ten Fidy. The flavors just aren't my thing. But I can still appreciate it for what it is, even if I don't personally like it. It's fine if you don't like Hopslam. But to miss the quality and insult me and my current state of residence seems shortsighted.

Still hoping you're getting paid to surf BA, even if I'm not getting paid to actually work.

Meh. There aren't a ton of "highly regarded breweries" here in S.D. either--except by the people here in S.D. who support their local breweries. Elitism isn't a good look in any forum, least of all this one (we're talking about beer after all, pal, not luxury automobiles). Hopslam is a solid brew irrespective of one's access (or lack thereof) to the supposed "finer things", as reflected by some solid ratings here (and on other sites) from quaffers far and wide. (I'm not an IPA, DIPA, NEIPA, or any other -PA apologist either, by the way--I like stouts, saisons, and dark Belgians more myself). Long story short--the asserted superiority of your "scene" (whether real or imagined) doesn't determine whether someone's opinion about a particular brew is "worthy."

A fair enough deal in this way, hell I would buy it. I won’t commit to a 6, but as I’ve said I’d buy it if I saw it on tap.

Haven’t seen it yet in the greater LA area, and will be interesting to see if we receive same levels of distribution as prior years.

It doesn’t sell...at all. Total shelf turd here.

I’m not personally a fan of the beer. I think many midwesterners have some emotional connection/nostalgia for it, which I get. But out here, there are better, and cheaper, options.

I don't love Hopslam as much as I used to due to preferring lower-abv beers, but Hopslam is still a great beer and I do plan on buying at least one six pack this year as always.

Clearly you've never been to Wegman's. Mikkeller, Evil Twin, Grimm, Founders, Firestone Walker, Sloop, Victory, Troegs, Lagunitas, Stone, Sixpoint, Lord Hobo, Otter Creek, Long Trail, Against the Grain, and many more options are always available, and I for one absolutely love it.

But brosef, don't you know that all of those beers are only good fresh from the brite tank? Plus don't some of those breweries bottle? Gross

I still think it's a tasty beer, but I don't buy more than one six-pack a year anymore. What I really like is the 12oz format, which is ideal for this ABV. Happy to be able to buy Lupulin River in this format, too. Tired Hands Pineal and Trillium Cutting Tiles are also excellent honey IPAs, but Hopslam has a pretty unique take on the style.

A few months ago I bought a 4 pack of 16 oz cans of 90 minute for $10. Nothingness wrong with that price!

    Consider yourself lucky.

DFH prices are significantly higher here in PA.

    Cheers!

Seems to be a lot of
Really? Here the 60 and 90 min and other low ABV beers are around $10 and some of the less frequent IPAs are a few dollars more. At least there’s one thing in NJ that’s cheap.

The Bells prices are pretty cheap here as well.

Well , price aside I don't like DFH 90, so it’s not much of a bargain at any price.
