Okay, so this place is doing just fine. It's always packed, but I'm surprised to see the lack of chatter about them on BA. They've only been open 3+ months, but I think at this point, I can safely say that they're the best brewery in the DC area, and it's not particularly close. Oh, and they're getting better! Their two newest beers, Biere de Mars and Under Your Weather, are their best beers yet and quite possibly the best saison and IPA, respectively, that the DC metro area has to offer. So why aren't we talking about these guys more? They're doing awesome things.

That Biere de Mars is superb.

Guess I need to make a trip to the brewery soon. I haven't had any of their beers yet.

I'm happy they're under the radar. Let the bros keep paying $10 for 3 stars mediocrity or drink donut beerz at bluejacket.

Both the new beers (Biere de Mars and Under Your Weather) were spectacular, and their ginavit barrel-aged saison was quite good last time I was there. On all of my previous visits, everything they did was solid, too. I'm surprised that it's not been generating that much buzz.

    Maybe because:
    - It is not a NRG shop, or
    - You can't trade their beer, or
    - Shhh. It's crowded enough already.

    ... just shooting out ideas.

I was fortunate to be able to sample a lot of Nathan's homebrew before he started at RP. Went to Right Proper about a month ago for the 1st time. Place was jammed packed on an early Saturday evening, over 2 hour wait for a table for 4, luckily secured a spot at the bar. Beers were great. Don't make into the city all that often but Right Proper gives me a good reason to.

Can't say I disagree. Right Proper has quickly become my go-to brewery in the city. From the beer (der), to the food and even the decorum, everything at RP is pitch perfect. Luckily the girlfiend lives literally around the corner, giving me more than enough excuses to be found here on frequent occasion. Easily my favorite libations being produced within the district.

Is there a solid system for knowing what beers are available online? Or coming soon?

While their beers that I've had were nice, the number of taps on has been pretty banged up most times I've gone. I know they're just getting rolling, but last time I went the only options were a 3 stars iipa (sugar bomb), that 3% wee mild, and the Skibsol (another 3% but really nice). It was like mid-day saturday.

I mean to knock them not at all, just wondering if there is a best day to go if you're looking for beers? Their twitter seems geared way more towards promoting them on the Shaw social scene (that's fine too) than a beer geek paradise. I'd assume early in the week early in the day, but if anyone's got a tip I'd take it.

I was interested in RP ever since I first about about their plans to open, but haven't had a chance to get over there yet. Really looking forward to it, though.

This is probably my biggest complaint with them thus far. I had a day like this too, where they only had 2 Right Proper beers on tap and that was it (though I think it was a Tuesday after a holiday weekend). I have had a lot more success in recent weeks where they've consistently had 5-6 beers available. That said, they could certainly update their Twitter or Facebook with current beers on tap on some sort of regular basis. I think generally the best times to go are probably Thursday or Friday.

I love this place. The ham biscuits are like crack. I have only been on the weekend when its slammed. Is it crowded during the week too? I hope they start opening for weekend brunch at some point.

Or even a "rightproperdraftlist" alternative twitter. I get not wanting to turn an advertising stream for more casual beer fans//people in the neighborhood into a stream of tap lists those people don't care to see, which they might unfollow or whatever you call it.

    Beermenus.com is another option.

I like the low $ on the low abv beers, the skibsol + a shot ... ah yeah.

This is my issue with a lot of places. Just pulled up the beer list for Bluejacket. It's from almost two weeks ago.
I find that places that use anything other than beermenus.com tend to do a shitty job of keeping their online draft lists current.

When the Churchkey list is old, my beer-hack is to get the list form the Birch and Barley website.

Edit: of course its up to date when I post this.

I may be alone, but this could change the amount of times I stop by, dramatically.
