Oh you poor souls who have been limited to GF bottled and kegged Alpine. It was always so great at the source. Haven't been in over a year but those years that I would stop in every 3 or 4 months are some of my most memorable beer moments. BadBoy, Expo, mmm mmm..

Beer is like life, you have to live it in the moment. Today's thrills will be tomorrow's memories. You seek a thrill of the past and risk being whelmed, given the changes and expanded novelties of the present day. That beer in my avatar is the first bottled batch of Cellarman, a gorgeous saison and quite possibly the best one I had tasted up to that moment (among tons of others. HF, SP, Fantome, etc.). I have drank at least 3 other bottles since of the latest batches, and the last bottle I had was probably half as good/enjoyable as my first. Palates change, brewing variables mutate, all in vain neglecting ones old preferences. My first bottle of Abyss was mind blowing compared to the half drain pour my last bottle ended up being. That 3 week old bottle of Pliny I got as extra in a trade was the Pontiac Grand Am to the Shelby Cobra of a Pliny I had on draft at Russian River.

Hype, over-exciting oneself, those are things that should be avoided while treading the craft beer waters..

If I have to name a specific beer I'll start with Duet, otherwise ... "the Alpine stuff that Green Flash has been contracted to produce". Had the real deal(s) from the source and the GF version is not the same animal. :slight_frown: Won't be buying any more unless it's coming directly from Alpine, CA and not San Diego. (Nothing against Green Flash, they brew some really good stuff. 'Just isn't working, IMO.)

People will probably think I'm crazy but my bottle of Nutulhu sucked. Mega-disappointment.

I had a bottle of A Deal With The Devil and was very, very unimpressed. I love sweet barleywines so I was really expecting to enjoy it. It literally tasted like a bottle of syrup, it wasn't terrible, but it was overly sweet.

Victory Pils. I love many of their others, but just don't take to their "flagship" brew.

    Oskar Blues Ten Fidy.

Sorry, as it may be sacreligious to say, but this stuff has the viscosity of 10W-30 motor oil.

Anything I've tried from Cigar City. I haven't had one that I would drink again.

I just don't get the hype.

2015 Prop. Had it last night and I was hoping for more. None of the flavors came through except just a strong cloying sweetness. Big letdown

Surly Wet... i wouldn't say i searched high and low for it but was pretty excited to try it when i got it in a trade. I thought the flavors were weird and the mouthfeel was too thin
