Have you tried the 2015 version? Totally new recipe. The 2014 was bad, but this year's isn't nearly so muddled.

I'll chime in to agree on Grapefruit Sculpin. Not bad, but I much prefer Magic Hat's Electric Peel.

Victory at Sea from BP was a big let down for me. Not that it's especially hard to get or anything (although, I did have to go to MD to get it). It could be that I've had so many great stouts this fall (Expedition, Ten Fidy, etc.) and this one is just as good as those. IMO

My recent let downs have been GF Silva Stout (on tap and still a buttery mess), SN Barrel Aged Maillard's Odyssey (the barrel treatment didn't make it any better than the base beer already was, in fact I prefer the original), GF brewed Alpine Duet (just good on tap, terrible bottled), and Deschutes Lemondrop Chasin Freshies (rough and generally unpleasant).

Revolution Unsessionable - Boozy and hoppy IIPA (which I have no problem with) but it seems like they tried to tame those qualities by making it too sweet.

Half Acre Double Daisy Cutter - Too malty for me and the hops coming through in the aftertaste did not make a difference. I would take regular Daisy Cutter anyday.

I did a personal whale IPA tasting and Surly Furious was very disappointing for me. I got it as an extra, but I still viewed it as a whale, especially out here in the NW and I hated the color, smell, and was not pumped on the taste, especially with the other beers I had on the table.

This is how I felt about 2014 Prop. Buddy traded the farm to get one, three of us split it and we all just sat there wondering....what the hell is with this beer? Awful. Finished it purely on cost.

Another very good wine barrel aged beer is MOA Imperial Stout aged in Pinot Noir barrels. Real easy to get hold of and judging from the rating, VERY underappreciated. It's certainly worth a whirl, that's for certain.

Ninkasi Ground Control. Based on the price I was expecting something great. But it didn't taste that good, and it gave me instant heartburn. Ended up drain pouring half of my glass.

I genuinely enjoy reading these threads and seeing the wide range of highly regarded and quality beers mentioned. Often times I find myself very much preferring the ones mentioned most frequently. Just goes to show how different the individual palates and preferences can be.

Dark Lord is pretty self-explanatory, that beer is just straight up terrible. Assassin on the other hand was a good beer that has an unbelievable amount of hype behind. I just didn't get it.

Prairie BOMB. Good but not worth the price of 10/bottle when an FBS 4 pk. is 11.99

It's really interesting to see all these beers being mentioned on this thread...some I love and i'm like "wtf?!" then a lot i'm like "yeah, totally agree" - and these are differing opinions amongst all of us beer lovers...its cool to read through.

Glad to see that Abraxas was on this thread as I was really beginning to think that there was something broken with my palate. How could a beer with all that hype be that disappointing to me??? It was on my trade bucket list and when i finally got to try it, not only did it not blow my mind - i actually didn't want to finish it. I've been underwhelmed by over hyped beer but still enjoyed drinking it. But i really just didn't get Abraxas....and my brother loved it so i know the bottle wasn't infected or anything. I still can't believe it.

Dirtwolf. Tried it in Oregon and here in Arkansas again when we got distro. Just doesn't taste good to me. Uneven and not put together well, and I love DIPAs. Grapefruit Sculpin, not for me and I live fruity IPAs. Tank 7, not what I like in that style.
