I wouldn't say "really let me down" but didn't live up to the perceived hype...... Gandhi Bot, maybe it was the fact that I had it during a day of world class IPAs but it just fell short of what I was expecting.

SN Hop Hunter. Not a bad beer, but I had really high hopes for this beer and I find it just average. I also feel the same way about Victory Vital IPA.

I totally agree with you on Dark Lord, just a syrupy mess with what tastes likes 2 bags of sugar, however I really enjoyed Assassin, complex beer with a smooth finish.

Your Pure Hoppiness came in a GF bottle? Mine was an Alpine bottle.

Mexico's craft beer scene has seen a huge growth recently, mostly pushed by the craft scene in the US. I do believe that the craft scene here is fairly unappreciated, and even more by anyone from outside this country. Luckily I live in the state that has seen the biggest and fastest craft scene growth in Mexico, which is in Baja California (neighbors with California).

I've had stuff from Green Flash, Stone, Ballast Point, FW, Victory, etc; and I can say that I've had several beers from Mexico as good, or in some instances better, than some of the standard american stuff. (But surely not close as good as most of the best stuff in the US).

By the way, Dia de los Muertos is not mexican craft beer. It is brewed in the US and has much more distribution in the US than in Mexico. I can barely find that beer here and they are not well known. From what I can recall, they where a small brewery in Mexico, then Coors bought them and they moved to somewhere in the US. Let's just say they are something like Taco Bell, they try to make you think they are mexican, but they are not.

If you want some names from great breweries from here we can discuss them via inbox messages before we get yelled at for derailing the topic.

Mine was Kern River Citra. Had 2 bottles sent to me fresh, both tasted like middle of the run, shelf IPA's at best. I wont say that it was terrible.... but ya, it was..

I would have to say this about Pliny the Elder - it's an excellent IPA (not sure about best).

But the drop off is really bad. I wouldn't drink it over 2 weeks old, as my last drainpour will attest. I enjoyed the hell out of my fresh growler though.

Double Sunshine. Had one over the weekend, which puts it at about 3 weeks old. Hops were completely gone and it was a malt bomb. And I know it fell off because my buddy had it over Thanksgiving when it was ~1 week old and said it was amazing. Major let down

Alpine Nelson. Green Flash Bottle, which people on here may cite as the issue, which is fine. It was good, but not what I was expecting.

I just recently had a glass of the 2014 and agree, the 2015 was much better.

That's basically the definition of a letdown. No one is cracking a Harpoon IPA with lofty expectations. This is just another regurgitation of the "most overrated beer" thread.

Sculpin IPA. I had it once at a bar, and I don't know if it was too cold or I drank it too fast or what but I didn't really enjoy the base flavor. It was hoppy and bitter but that's about all I got. Gonna have to try that again in 6 pack.

Also, Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout, Samuel Smith Organic Chocolate Stout, Left Hand Milk Nitro, even Young's Double Chocolate, I thought were all kinda light and watered down, Young's tasting good but too much fruit to be considered double chocolate imo...

Oddly enough for me it was Second Fiddle from FiddleHead, a close second would have been Julius. They were good but I was underwhelmed probably due to all the hype and pressure I had put on myself to "must drink" these brews. I would drink them both again but not something I'd go out of the way to get.
