I admit I have bought beer solely on the label before, but I've never NOT bought something just because about the label. I love seeing the wacky/creative ones these days. So I guess I have no meaningful contribution but wanted to say that...

That specific wording is put on for legal reasons. Nothing else.

Ever notice that 9 times out of 10, the best beers have a very straight forward label. Brewery name, style of beer, date and abv/ibu info.

I think RRBC's label sucks. Especially PtE.

I could care less what their labels look like. I care about the quality of the liquid contained inside. Bud Lite has a new commercial out talking about their cool new look. Who cares? Does it make the beer taste better? Very doubtful. I purchase with my taste buds not my eyes. Sure some logo's are cool but it doesn't make me want to purchase the beer if I know it tastes like crap. Come on people, get off the hype bus...

Personally I drink your beer for the excellent product it is. While I understand the need to brand or rebrand as the case may be, you could put a plain black and white label saying Boulevard and the name of the contained beer and I would buy it. Quality for me is taste, not art work. Continue to put in effort there and you have in me a customer for life. And thanks again for deciding to distro to AZ!!

I figured as much, but that shouldn't be the only thing on the bottle. Some breweries are very descriptive while others stick to only what's legally required. If I'm looking at two beers and one has a descriptive sentence or two and the other says "Malt Beverage with flavorings", I'm likely to choose the former. This is especially if I don't know much about either beer. Lost Abbey is another that doesn't provide much in the way of actually telling you what's in the bottle.

Three Floyds is pretty dumb looking.

But many of their beers are excellent so who cares?!

I don't really take issue w/the frog so much as all the crazy fonts smashed together that make it easier to drink it & find out, than decipher all that whathavya on the label. In fact, that would explain the bomber format, you can't jam all that crazy on a 12oz bottle:rolling_eyes:

But seriously, I think Middle Ages Brewing could use an update.

Going to read through the entire thread later, but I will just scream Weyerbacher for awhile. The old labels were horrendous, the new labels are barely better.

For anyone that says beer labels (and packaging in general) don't affect their buying habits, is just dead wrong. They may not THINK it affects them, but it does, even if it is on a subconscious level. I am a graphic designer, but not focused on package design, but there is a reason why there is a huge area of design in packaging, because they can sway you, easily. And companies will pay for that to happen.
