Upland or Jackie O's? I am driving from Missouri to Columbus, OH on Sunday. I want to stop at one of these places during my trip. Upland will be more on the way, while I will have to drive past Columbus to go to Jackie O's. Anything special on tap at either place right now? Is Jackie O's worth the extra drive? Of course I would love to just go to both, but I'm not sure I can swing it. Any thoughts/opinions are appreciated. Cheers.

Having been to both brewpubs several times, Jackie O's is definitely where you want to go. Better regular tap offerings, awesome food, and a very cool atmosphere. Not sure what specifically they have on tap right now, but you'll probably find Mystic Mama (American IPA) and Razz Wheat, which are both excellent summer beers. Every time I've been down there there's been at least one barrel aged beer on as well.

Did you end up hitting Jackie O's then? How was it?

I did end up going to Upland on my way to Columbus, so I was able to make both happen. Was the only one on the tour and picked up a few bottles of Teddy Bear Kisses to bring home. One thing I was told on the tour, that I am still not sure is true, is that there are no hops added to make any of the Lambics. One of the reason's I am skeptical is because the person telling me this had never heard of brewer's like Cantillon using 2-3 year old hops. If this is true, I learned something new. Anyone know about this?

I am too surprised that not more replied considering the reputation of both breweries. Try anything awesome?

Just got back from Jackie O's and it was awesome. Started out at the "secondary" bar for food and a beer until the main bar opened at 5. The real experience began when we got next door. They just tapped Matriarch DIPA and it was fantastic. Met the Brewmaster, who I have been exchanging BM's with, and took a little private tour. Amazing. Overall, it was an awesome time. Thank you so much to Beace (BA Name and Brewmaster) for all your hospitality. Really made my trip to Jackie O's well worth it. Left with a T-Shirt, Pint Glass, Growler of Matriarch and a huge smile on my face. Also should mention the bartender was excellent. Had a great time drinking and chatting with her. Cheers!
