A couple times a year sounds better than none a year. And as a Keeper I only made 3 of 4 anyway.
They're fun, so glad they'll still happen to some extent.

My wallet and my wife would be happier with fewer de Garde parties every year. I think I would, too.

The first batch of the Archer was awesome. I haven't had this round yet, but I'm looking forward to it. The Anniversary was outstanding. Also, one of my favorites that doesn't get a lot of love, L'Hiver Melange 2. The rum barrel was very nice!

I really liked L'Hiver Melange 2 when it was on tap as well. It sounds like some of the bottles might have been messed up but my wife and I both thought it was great on tap. Also, L'HM1, with the Pappy barrels, so good. Not much love on that one either. I guess dark sours are pretty polarizing.

I can't do the dark de Garde beers. Too much malt vinegar and brown sugar for me.

I think I like the dark sours a little more than the average person based on ratings, especially Oude Rruin, but I'd still be ok if they didn't make a lot more of them. On the other hand, a friend of mine (not a major beer nerd) was disappointed by the last release because there were no dark sours. He was super happy to trade me his Archer and Peach for my Oude Rruin and L'Hiver Melange 2!

I'm super excited for our Persimmon beer from our Lambic inspired barrels.
And the white Oregon truffle barrels. Because I love those funky things.

So many delicious beers it's tough to say.
Loved peach bu out of the bottle
Apricot Gose, imperial nectarine bu, and citrus desay are some other favorites. Have a broken truck and very excited to crack that!

Thank you so much for this post!!! It's funny you mention grapes, my favorite wild ales of all time are Jester King's re-fermented grape beer such as Biere de Merlot, Cerveza Tempranillo, Biere de Syrah and Bdbdb! I have been eyeing the vin lee, lily and lucy.

I'm going to go with 3S. Not necessarily because it's the best tasting (it isn't), but because of the origin story. Shout out to @Shmeal and @deGardebrewing for taking my crazy ass idea and making it happen.

Care to elaborate? Haven't heard the background or tried the beer.

We were standing around getting sauced at the 2nd Brews For New Avenues when I (half jokingly) asked Trevor how much it would cost us to commission a single barrel private release. He told us to ask Linsey because "She's the boss." She thought we were kidding, but then @Shmeal basically said "Shut up and take my money!!!" as he began pulling out his checkbook.

Fast forward several months and we ended up getting ~15 cases of 3S, which IIRC unofficially stands for Sam's Secret Sauce.
