the beer geek weasel BA editions are great. expensive... but great

 

Beer geek brunch weasel or cognac are the only two I've had that I would ever pay for again...

 

brunch weasel + ba variants, george + ba variants, some ba variants of black, nelson sauvignon is meant to be good although I wasn't impressed when I tried it (would like to try again)

 

Black Hole Red Wine. Black Hole White Wine. Beer Geek Breakfast. Beer Hop Breakfast. Beer Geek Brunch Weasel. Beer Geek Brunch Weasel (Calvados Edition). Single Hop Series (Amarillo).

 

All of the BGB variants, BA'ed black hole, and all of their new sours (esp. spontan-series). I think some of their sours rival some of the stuff I have had from HF and RR.

Single hop stuff is kinda cool too.

Just don't get the regular version of Black.

I'm a diehard Mikkeller fan (and trust me, we're hard to find without the obligatory price point jokes [which are really jokes about the Shelton Bastards anyway]), but Mikkeller Black is a booze bomb if I ever had one. It "builds character."

 

Almost anything other than the Spontan- series and most of the Alive beers. Don't waste your money like that. Weasel, George, BA Black Hole except for Tequila and Islay Scotch, and Ris a la Male were pretty tasty and there's plenty more I can't remember.

 

I really liked the Invasion Farmhouse IPA that he did with Anchorage Brewing. It's an IPA with brett, so it's kind of like a Belgian IPA.

 

I was in a bottle shop in Rome and got a Mikkeller double "eye" PA. Bottle just had two eyes and the letters PA. I loved it, but not only can't I find it, I can't find anyone who's even heard of it

 

Beer Geeks are amazing..Problem with buying their ipa's here in Indiana is you have no clue how long they have been sitting on the shelf. The fact they only sell single bottles and the prices are often expensive hinders the sale of their beer here...Their Bad Worse barley wine aged in red wine barrels is really good too.

 

Yeah, and his sours are really nice also. He just released new ones.

 

What is wrong about Spontan? I really enjoy them.

Also liked those BA variants you mentioned, but I am sure everyone don't certainly like peated version.

 

Most of the Spontan came across as weak, very simple, lacking any character and depth.
I did however enjoy Spontanale, good but quite enjoyable & Spontanriesling was a huge surprise, really, really good. SpontanKoppi is interesting to say the very least.

 

All the usual BA/imperial/sour stuff has been mentioned so I'm going to put in a couple of votes for-

Burger & Bun L.A. Lager and American Dream.

 

Indeed. Those both are pretty good ones.

 

For my tastes most of the Spontan beers were pretty lacking in depth, they all had that band-aid/plastic phenol going on and were overly acetic.

 

Cognac Black was by far my favourite Mikkeller...Black Hole Cognac and White Wine were both pretty good also.
