So, if you could wave your magic wand and "poof" a brewpub or good beer bar would appear anywhere in the Mid-Atlantic, where do you think it is needed most? Could be a total lack of places, or an upgrade in quality is needed. Not really looking for bashes on Brewpub A or Beer Bar B, but most likely some will find their way in here. Have at it!

Seems to me I'm going to learn alot about the geography of the Mid-Atlantic region if I follow this post but my answer is:

About 1/4 - 1/2 mile from my front door/walkable when I've had a few. Not too convenient, but still not out of the way. Someplace I wouldn't be tempted to visit on a daily basis. Maybe every other day. One would be good. Two would be better.

    If true, very sad indeed.

Or the one next door .

Seriously, though, my area (the Northern Valley, NJ) is pretty devoid of places to enjoy quality beers on draught. I either have to drive 20 minutes in either direction, or take the bus into Manhattan. As a result, most of my drinking is done at home these days. It would be nice to have a good place within stumbling distance.

Long Beach, NY. Yes I live here but a brewpub would absolutely make a killing here, especially during the summer months when our population jumps from 35,000 to over 50,000 with close to another 20,000 visiting weekly from the city. We have plenty of bars but none that truly specializes in good beer. Hell, we are the 24th most populated city in the county if you go by pop. density (people per square mile). Lots of beer lovers (and beer drinkers) in this city. Breweries have tried to open here but our shitty council (see what I did there?) has not allowed it to happen.

I've actually contacted Iron Hill about this before. Western Monmouth County, NJ, desperately needs some kind of brewpub. 90% of the restaurants are generic Asian or Italian places. The area is densely populated and relatively well-to-do. If there were a real brewpub in Freehold, NJ, or surrounding towns (Howell, Marlboro, Manalapan) it would do amazing business.

it's utterly shocking to me that Bergen County doesn't have multiple options. Copper Mine is technically in Bergen County, but it's literally less than 1 mile from the southern border, so I don't count it.

I would have said this, however I doubt that Glen Gardner NJ is a hot spot for craft beer (hint: it's not). I think I would go with Chester, NJ. They have some nice shops, a couple of good coffee places, some great restaurants and not to mention a lot of money in the area. But, no good bars. The closest good bar in the area are in Randolph (Nicole's 10 and Morris Tap) or Morristown. The closest brewpub is the one in Long Valley and that's not very good.

South Jersey beach area. Forget the place in Atlantic City it is not that good. I am sure that one would be successful for people who simply don't want Corona or Coors Light. Cape May is good but say Somers Point or someplace in the AC, or Margate area would be nice.

Here in Willow Grove there are options around but things could be improved. Iron Abbey isn't far away in Horsham, but like most people say, we want one in "my town". Mad Mex has a really good craft beer menu and that's about it for places actually in Willow Grove. (Although the are is so small that it's not a hassle to go somewhere else)

Every time I see a vacant building with a "For Rent" sign I say a brewpub should go in there. There are always open spots near the Train Station which would be a perfect spot for a brewpub. If the Iron Abbey can thrive on 611 and if someone could make stellar beer like that of a Tired Hands/Forest and Main and be seated within walking distance of the Train Station it could be a gold mine.

Atlantic City. Is Firewaters still the best there? Las Vegas could get better too.

Correct. Mostly mediocre beer (and not much selection either), mediocre food, and a fairly depressing ambiance.
