I swapped out the 1oz of cascades for bitter and used .5 galaxy. Of the hops I have its the closest AA% of the other 3

If you are adding hops at the end of boil (and a hopstand) you will obtain plenty of flavor from that addition. No need to boil for 10 minutes.
The longer the hops are at near boiling or above something like 200 degrees F the boil the alpha acids are isomerized (i.e., bitterness is extracted).

    Cheers!

Isomerization happens at temperatures well below 200F. But more slowly.

    Jack,

You ignorant bitch...just kidding , I've always got more flavor from 5 and 10 min additions (v KO/whirlpool) ...yes, it will be a tad more bitter, but more flavorful I believe. Still remember a comp entry from years ago where I did just that (no 10 min addition) and a judge correctly called it ...lots of aroma, but little flavor. Cheers

I'm gonna add the first 3 ounces at 5 minutes then chill to 170, then drop in 4 ounces for a 30 min hopstsnd. 45 min left in boil right now. The wort is much darker than I predicted it to be for using extra light dme

If you are looking for the ultimate in lightness then Pilsen DME is what you want.

    Cheers!

Yes, adding hops near the end (10, 5 0 minutes) of boil will add flavor. It is subjective and shades of gray on flavor amounts. I recognize that the end of boil is called the aroma addition but for my palate I obtain more flavor than aroma from that addition. When I want to optimize aroma I dry hops.

@TooHopTooHandle will obtain plenty of hop flavor and aroma from his oveall hop schedule.

    Cheers!
