I'm attending a whiskey lottery in a week. I'm not too versed in whiskey. I'll most likely want to trade what I win for beer, so hoping someone can help me with which are the most desirable whiskies to go for. I will list them and let me know in order of most desirable to least desirable. Obviously this will vary from person to person. How much does each cost? Some might not be worth trading depending on the cost. I don't know much either but I see people trading for Weller, pappy, orvw and a few others. But like anything be prepared to drink what you buy just in case you can't trade it.
pappys probably have the most hype that will cross into beerlandia, weller is super well respected in the bourbon community because they actually distill the pappys and are dank, I know that some people really like elijah craig but it seems to be a bit polarizing, beyond that I can't offer much. For straight trade bait I would say that pappys are going to be the winner.
Not sure on prices, but I know from the past they are reasonable. May not be msrp, but they are not secondary prices.
The Buffalo trace antique stuff will get the most hype right after pappy line The rest....have not seen much movement via whiskey to beer trades.
If you are looking to trade or sell then Van Winkle, Van Winkle & Van Winkle is your answer. Even non Bourbon people know and want that. Although I recently read an article that the Pappy market is on the down side After that Weller and Parker. The others are all very good to great whiskeys. Not sure how they will trade to the beer world. Let us know what you end up winning.
elijah craig barrel proof may not trade high, but its damn delicious and personally id be after that FR130!
I’m not as familiar with some toward the middle bottom but am fairly confident in the first 10 I listed.
