Perhaps it's too much wine-like. I mean, it's already a sour beer, and then you add grapes (muscadines) to it.

Muscadines, like mentioned, are like a weedy southern grape. It's a thick ass skin, sometimes bitter, and then very fleshy and sweet.

People use them around here to make hooch and other shit wines.

Some can be dry, and white wine like, but I don't know what they used. I'm not saying it's gonna be shit, I mean, I haven't had that many shitty beers from Wicked Weed, some better than others, but none that were flat out awful. So I'm sure it'll be tasty, but I think people will not jump all over the place for this release, like they did the previous two.

I've had it on draft twice, alongside red, and I've had Red and Golden from the bottle, twice, but not side by side.

Red had the tart funk, but Golden is really juicy, and has a nice sourness, but restrained funk I will say however, the bottles are way funkier than draft, and it's much better from a bottle. Hence the reasoning I believe the beer will continue to get funkier ( was more funk in the second bottle I drank last weekend, than the release day).

Keep in mind, the bottles haven't been conditioning for long.. 6-7 weeks at this point, which is young. I think in 5-6 months, the beers will still be juicy fruit, and the funk will start to meld in nicely.

However, the way I'm running through my case, drinking it and sending bottles out to people, I won't have any in 5-6 months haha.

I haven't been able to buy bottles from either previous release, so I have a question about the purchase of bottles online.
Are they sold on the Wicked Weed website? I have read that both previous releases have sold out within a minute, so do I need to have anything set up before noon on Saturday.

They'll post a link on their social media accounts Saturday morning that will take you to the Brown Paper Tickets website where things will (hopefully) go live at noon. Cases of Golden Angel went quickly but I know people that were able to purchase the six bottle allotment almost twenty minutes after they went on sale.

Is it pre-purchase only or do they set aside a certain amount for pre-purchase and a certain amount for in-person sales?

They set aside a certain amount for in-person sales. I think the amount has varied between the Red and Golden Angel releases, but from what I've heard you can get it in-person there as long as you show up reasonably early. Someone who has been to them please correct me if I'm wrong.

I got there around maybe 10:30 for golden angel. Got my bracelet w/ number on it and left to get some donuts. Came back about 10 minutes before noon and found my number/place in line. No problems.

I will attend for this release, if not only to get a pour of golden/red angel that day. (Had red on draft for the golden release).

I will be in Asheville the following weekend and plan on spending at least a few hours at Wicked Weed on Friday (7/24). Sounds like I will miss out on the White Angel unless they happen to have some on tap still.

I missed the Golden angel by a week, and there was plenty on tap at the Funketorium when I finally made it. I think it's safe to say you'll be able to get as much as you want on draft.

Good to know, thanks! Does anyone have a list of everything that Wicked Weed bottles/cans that I can purchase either in the taproom or at a local bottle shop to bring home?

If you call the brewpub or Funkatorium, they will be happy to tell you what bottles they have (no cans, yet).

Bruisin' Ales lists most of their inventory online. You can call ahead to Tasty Beverage or Appalachian Vintner as well.

Does Wicked Weed allow proxies for pickups? I'm moving the weekend of July 18th when pickup is but have the whole next week off.

Did the day of thing for Golden Angel as well and it was really easy. Show up 10:30, get wristband, go get brunch, come back and wait about 10 mins to pick up and I was on my way. To Green Man. To wait in another line. To get more beer...

I did the Golden Angel in-person release but didn't know I could get there early. I got in line ~1145AM and waited about 2hrs while they went through everyone in front of me. But I was able to enjoy draft pours of Red Angel, Recurrant and Medora while I waited.

I paid attention to the wristbands numbered and different colors. Seems they had green bands for guaranteed bottles and was numbered to about 225-250. After that, gray bands were available and numbered to whatever. I assumed those were the "maybe bottles will be left" bands. I don't think they sold out bottles until around 4PM.
