Anyone use oak barrels to age anything? I was thinking of buying one to age a stout but wanted some feedback.

With my 5 gal barrel...took a month to get the oak flavor instead of the normal week or so with chips...they can cost over $100, so you need to use a lot to get your $'s worth. Long-term aging might result in the opposite problem...too much oak.
