It's apparently a problem for Firefox. Same problem on Linux or Windows. Works with Chrome.

Make that two mens opinions. I agree, the majority do put their location, and some of that random stuff represents a bit of the personality of the BA, who are part of the community, not much different then their avatar is also respresentive of their personality. If someone who doesn't put their location, but instead puts "random crap" if it's offensive crap, people can report it.

I don't think the "white space" is awful right now, but with it being all white, it is a little much on the eyes. I would imagine they'll be tying in the "normal" BA colors soon. Right?

Most people at least put what state they are in. Sometimes the city is "random crap" but the state is almost always there

Right. I'd like if that were to show up. Rather than everyone either being "Member" or "Founder" or "Moderator". If you're a "Moderator" or a "Founder" it could show there, but there's no need to put "Member" under everyone else's, its just redundant.

Actually, there is ... because in the near future there will be several types of members with varying permissions.

I'm in this boat too. Location is just as much of an identifier for me as avatar

Couldn't there be some kind of simple program that asks you to choose a US State and then provides a list of specific towns to choose from, or maybe enter your zip code and have the town just appear? That doesn't seem like it would be too hard to implement and it would cut out all the crap people might type in there. But idk I don't know anything about programming. Just an idea.

Sometimes, people don't like to include their actual location due to privacy concerns. I, for instance, live in Central NY but I'm not totally crazy about putting my full name and city in my profile. Silly, probably but it's my information, I'll display it where I please. Don't force me to put my city in my profile please.

There's not even a need for exact location, State and Country would be plenty.

Yes: bring back location under the avatar! Please? It's a very useful stat to have readily profiled.

+1 to bringing back location regardless if people put crap in there. Same goes for joined on date. Why go thru more unnecessary steps just to find out what someone is talking about relevant to their location and time spent being a member?

...and the harm in people putting in random crap would be?

I find the usefulness of having user location would greatly outweigh the few who would put in random crap.

Maybe it's the Libertarian in me, but unless it's harming someone, let us do what we want.
