And... Ann interesting read from Forbes http://www.forbes.com/sites/taranur...spells-upheaval-within-a-decade/#37af6fb46931 10 Barrel Brewing — Anheuser-Busch InBev Ballast Point Brewing — Constellation Brands Blue Moon Brewing — MillerCoors Blue Point Brewing — Anheuser-Busch InBev Breckenridge Brewery — Anheuser-Busch InBev Dundee Brewing — North American Breweries Elysian Brewing — Anheuser-Busch InBev Fordham and Dominion Brewing — 40 percent owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev Founders Brewing — 30 percent owned by Mahou-San Miguel Four Peaks Brewing — Anheuser-Busch InBev Golden Road Brewing — Anheuser-Busch InBev Goose Island Beer Company — Anheuser-Busch InBev Kona Brewing — 32-percent owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev Lagunitas Brewing — 50-percent owned by Heineken International Leinenkugel’s Brewery — MillerCoors Magic Hat Brewing — North American Breweries Mendocino Brewing — United Breweries Group Olde Saratoga Brewing — United Breweries Group Portland Brewing Company (formerly MacTarnahan’s) — North American Breweries Pyramid Breweries — North American Breweries Redhook Brewery — 32-percent owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev Saint Archer Brewing — MillerCoors Shock Top Brewing — Anheuser-Busch InBev Widmer Brewing — 32-percent owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev Victory Brewing – Ulysses Management Firestone Walker – Duvel Moortgat Oskar Blues – Fireman Capitol Partners Cigar City – Fireman Capitol Partners All the Rock Bottom Breweries – CraftWorks Inc. Sweetwater – TSG Consumer Partners
That list states: "Dogfish Head – LNK Partners". Dogfish Head is only owned 15% by LNK Partners. I wonder what other misrepresentations exist in that list? Cheers!
I don't believe MillerCoors can be said to "own" Terrapin, indeed I remember an interview with Pet Coors where he lamented that they (through Tenth & Blake, a subsidiary) owned a minority interest and that wasn't a smart move for them in retrospect because they had no control. And of course they switched places of Green Flash and Alpine, should show Alpine owned by Green Flash rather than the other way around. And if they're going to list Boulevard and Firestone as owned by Duvel Moortgat shouldn't they also list Ommegang? And instead of saying that Kona, Widmer, Red Hook et al are "32% owned by AB-Inbev" shouldn't they just say each of them is owned by Craft Brew Alliance, to be consistent with how they did other ones like Oskar Blues being owned by Fireman Capital Partners? They could have said "Craft Brew Alliance (32% owned by AB-InBev)" if they wanted to make that point.
Yup, there is incorrect and/or misrepresented information in that list. Cheers to you for providing some fact-checking!!
Just another example of how journalism has declined in the last 30 years... although it's really sped up recently!!! At least I didn't find any spelling errors, and only one minor grammatical one.
This just in: Anheuser-Busch announced it is taking over Devils Backbone Brewing Company. http://www.brewbound.com/news/anheuser-busch-acquire-devils-backbone
Good ole Wikipedia: "In November 2014 Alpine Beer Company was acquired by fellow San Diego brewery Green Flash Brewing Company[7]"
A few things wrong here. E.G. Dogfish Head is not owned by LNK. LNK has a 15% ownership so DFH is still owned by Calagione. Missing from the list, Boulevard and Ommegang are also owned by the Duvel Moortgat family who also own Duvel, Leifman's and one or two other European breweries. Also Victory and Southern Tier are technically owned by ABV which is jointly owned by Ulyssess, Victory and Southern Tier.
Exactly, and it's on the original list. (But then so is Boulevard which I missed when writing my earlier post. :-))
All I can say is that here in kansas, which used to be a semi wasteland of craft, I can now walk in my small liquor store in a town of 15000 and pick up, Firestone, lagunitas, alpine, founders, and others recently bought out. So as long as the recipes stay the same, I really can't complain.
