I work harder on my days off. Up early for a 35 mile ride through the Pioneer Valley*. Now brewing a Mild.

Who's doing what and what are you brewing?

*Not self-aggrandizing. A soft cast to see if there are any cycling enthusiasts who also enjoy making and drinking beer.

No beer brewing for me. I'll be kegging my Tripel (brewed with rose hips), and starting a hopped cider. Still haven't decided on the hops to use, but I'm leaning toward columbus.

I want to brew on Monday, we will see how that goes. Possibly brewing 2 batches. 1 is a Wild Saison where I hope to use both Brett and Lacto. The other is an IPA, just haven't been able to choose my base malt yet, leaning towards Pearl.

Ill be dry hopping an IPA I brewed last weekend. Its a modified SMASH with almost only cascade, I bittered with Apollo and added carafoam for some foam stabilization. Other than that its just Maris Otter.

After camping on the coast I will be doing a single mash of Pale Malt, Cara-Pils, and Carastan 30/37. Will run off 18+ gallons of wort. Splitting to 2 kettles. Both will get sugar. 1 (the single batch) will also get British Dark Crystal 75/85 and Black Malt, Columbus, Chinook, Cascade, Centennial for a 8.2% Imperial Red IPA. The double batch will get Cascade/Centennial, Chinook, and Amarillo for about 7% ABV. 5 gallons of that goes to the church for our Fall Kick-Off. Biggest brewday yet. Really need to get my 11 gallon cooler MLT swapped to my 15 gallon one.

Will also be packaging my hop harvest and transferring a sour for bulk aging, cleaning a couple kegs.

Just finished a local 10 mile mountain bike ride and now debating if I should brew my yearly pumpkin beer or go with the Galaxy single hopped DIPA this weekend. Moving a Citra and Mosaic hopped IPA to secondary and dry hopping, as well as putting a Pliny clone in secondary and adding it's first dry hop too.

The only thing I'll be doing brewing wise is to weigh out some hops for an upcoming brew day. It's one week from tomorrow. I'm letting a friend of mine take over the " brewery " and brew himself up ( with help ) 20 gallons of our La Chouffe clone that he likes.

I wasted my first batch ever doing something that is too stupid to talk about (*hint, my efficiency was awful).

It was a great learning experience because I researched the process and learned more than I would have if it went well.

So this weekend, I'm starting over with a new game plan on an IPA with Nelson and Columbus.

I was aiming for around 1.045 OG, but ended up at 1.024. A 2%ish Citra pale was not what I was aiming for.

Post the specifics about your first batch and I'm sure someone will offer some good advice. There is no shame in making a mistake with your first batch. I'm on batch 85 or so and still welcome council.

I appreciate that, but really it was just my misunderstanding of the process when mashing.

However, if the next batch goes poorly, then I'll be looking for the helpful guidance you describe

Still playing around with sour starters from some grain and bottle dregs. Probably not ready to mash in and make them count.

Brewing a wit with lemon zest, tangerine zest, and no coriander. Taking 2 gallons of the worst and making Brett Tois American Wheat Ale with Mosiac and Galaxy. First all Brett fermentation.

Staying in town for the first time in as long as I can remember, so dedicating the weekend to beer stuff.

After a year, some pedio, some Brett, and some random bottle dregs, a Berliner I made with WY5335 is finally developed enough for me to be able to do something with it. Nice, assertive lemony tartness with almost a lambic-like aroma. Racked it onto many pounds of raspberries.

Brewing a stout and starting a sour wort Berliner tomorrow, emptying a bourbon barrel Sunday, and then I'll probably try to brew again on Monday if all goes well. I might take a nap instead.

Just received a smaller brewpot in this week. A deal was to be had on the webiverse for a 8 gallon brewpot with 2 welded ports with therm and ball valve for, including shipping, total price 117 dollars. Beats using my ginormous 15gallon mashtun and boil kettle, and 10 gallon water cooler and pump.I will be using some of that giant amount of pilsen malt syrup and some simcoe and hallertau hops. some s05 yeast and one of 4 specialty grains. honey malt, carahell, caramunich 2, and black malt. any suggestions for a recipe? Also I have a whole sack of 2 row and munich. << Am using them for future 10 gallon batches. It's gonna be a whatever brew night. Still too hot for brewing in the day.

No brewing. Racking the 1.114 og stout to secondary, picking up some vanilla beans and oak cubes as well as a spirit of some sort. Toss up between rum and bourbon. Leaning more towards rum for something different.
