I agree that the Cucapa beers are at least worth trying and always seem to be affordable IIRC.

There is something satisfying about ordering a Dos Equis/Corona when I'm on vacation at the beach. I'm sorry, I don't have any shame about it. I guess the commercials worked.

Now, hanging out with friends at a bar around home is a totally different story...

Agreed on those two beers. I will also drink a Dos Equis Amber in a pinch.

Whatever happened to Cucapa? They are a Mexican craft brewery that makes some decent beers. I used to be able to find their stuff here in LA, but I haven't seen any in years...

I agree with the majority of the posts on here. Why drink a beer that only tastes good after super spicy food, after licking a salt lick or after biting a lemon/lime? Have yet to taste a Mexican beer I would buy again. I think it is a regional thing. Kind of like drinking warm flat beer in London or cloudy beer in Belgium.

Right place, right time. I've had some sub-par beers (per ratings) in some great places and was all the happier to enjoy those beers in those settings - Beliken in Belize, Especial in the Azores, Dos Equis in Cancun. When in Rome...

just out of curiosity (since this thread won't die), has anyone who enjoys corona with lime tried putting a lime in a bottle of miller lite or whatever shitty AAL comes in bottles? does it taste exactly the same?

i'd try it myself, but corona with lime is something i only drink every 5 years or so when at a very hot summer family party or something.

I was at the girl's house a while back and her mom offered a beer. She apologized that all they had was MGDs. But she said that she squeezed lime in it to make it better. I took it, drank it. To my coronas taste different from other Mexican beers. I would say the lime MGD was more like a Sol and lime or Modelo light and lime.

I don't put extra fruit of any kind in beer. If I want lime, I add it ti seltzer or plain water or mixed drinks. If a beer can't stand on its own without it, I don't drink it.

Judging by their drinking habits, some people like the taste of their own vomit. Who am I to judge?

Are you sure they weren't using the Corona as a tequila chaser?

    the posturing is cute...

opposing BMC for ethical reasons is great.

opposing 1 flavor you don't like because you have better taste is... well, you can figure out what it is if you think about it for a minute.

I wasn't talking about tastes--I was talking about drinking habits.

no, you were talking about taste. you don't like something other people like, so they must like drinking their own vomit. or maybe you've made an error in your thought somewhere...
