Why did you become an Advocate?

I enjoy it also, it sort of is at times my own play list as I have the stereo on, then once in a while I'll see... hey I haven't heard that song in some time and hit play.

I will admit when the new forum format started I was sort of distracted by it, but of course you just skip it (nobody is forcing you to listen to the music of course).

 

Particularly for the trading beer aspect of it.

 

I'd used BA for a while when looking up beers. A buddy of mine introduced the website to me a while back, and I had been lurking for some time before joining. After a while I just figured I'd like to join the discussions, rather than just read them

 

I try to listen as much as possible, that's why I received a nice set of headphones from my gf last Christmas. The choices of beer, food and music are so eclectic and enjoyable. It's a sort of a virtual bottle share without the pleasure of a taste. Trust me, I'd pass it around if I could ...

 

I joined after seeing the WBAYDN thread. Where else am I going to post a picture of my beer , my hobo chime that plays roll out the barrel, a music video and some of my ramblings?

Thanks! I blame @guinness77 , he brought it up! It's one of my favorite thread here. Not only what he posted is true IMHO , but I use it for recommendations instead of reading reviews. Seeing what everyone is drinking is inspiring, especially when it comes to styles I haven't tried yet, I.E. gose. Why do I say blame? It's addicitive. Just ask my girlfriend. That's why I got headphones and a tablet for Christmas. She understands the meaning of my need for beer **** completely!

 

So that I could use terms like "session," instead of "shit-faced." Seriously, I don't even remember how I found this website, but I'm glad that I did. I enjoy discussing beer more often than I can drink it (or I'd be unemployed). Love the reviews, forums, etc.

 

I was on the internet trying to find out about why a beer called KBS was being limited to one per customer at my local liquor store. Bumped into this site. Found out that my brother that I had considered a "beer geek" had been a member for many years. Ended up "lurking" for a while then decided I wanted to get involved in some of these conversations after I developed a taste for real beer.

 

For me I was so tired of the same old same old supermarket beer and wanted something different and wanted to learn about craft beer. This is such a great site. I have learned so much and have really broadened my horizons of different types of beers. Great people and very informative.

I care about beer because I care about the craft. As a professional chef, I understand the hard work and dedication involved in creating something truly memorable and unique. Beer and Food are one in the same in that they're an experiment in a social setting. You can have some of the best memories created over either, and the better the experience, the more memorable.

 

It was all purely by accident, being born and raised next to a (now sort-of defunct) brewery. Beer can collecting came next, followed by homebrewing in college, three-tier after college... all of which leads to where I am today.

I've worked in food and beverage as a career for quite some time, and it's all very complimentary.
