Why do (or don't) you post reviews?

I enjoy it & it is a great tool, as my memory has gone in the shitter, now that I'm on the north end of 50...

I am new here and have not reviewed any brews yet in the "official" sense. That is probably what I will continue to do. My thought process is that a review is a personal grading of a beer that may or may not be of value to the next person. The system is also flawed from my perspective in that there are people that will rate highly brews that most beer fans consider to be swill. I will forego the examples that are here. The fact that I consider ABC by Bluefeet Brewing to be a 3.629 out of 5 is probably of little value to anyone who might read it because they are not me. To another it might be 2.78 or 4.13. I am not fond of Belgian brews so why review them etc.

I will comment on beers that I find that are in my opinion something that stands out as special . Many would consider me weird any way as I never refrigerate except for guests. Our basement is all brick and stays cool throughout the year. Cold kills flavor for me.

So how crazy am I ? I know some will chime in. :grinning:

I review every new beer I try. When I was first starting out, and to this day when shopping for beer I still read reviews.

A review with text rather than just a number is so much more helpful for me. I like to pass that along so others may read and be advised.

I also enjoy writing the reviews. I feel like writing reviews had definitely help me to increase my detection of flavors and aromas. Just part of the beer experience I enjoy.

It's inconvenient to rate (and/or review) beers on BA when I'm not home... Untappd is much more convenient from that stand point...

I prefer to do a full review rather than just give it a number. I always have done so myself and keep a matrix, but I discovered BA a couple years ago and figured I'd put them up there too. It is also much more interesting to see what others think of the same beer, rather than just seeing a rating.

The main reason I upload my posts is because I am too lazy (or nervous?) to start my own blog.

There are simply too many beers out there to remember (with any specificity) every one that you've sampled. So, I do this as an easy self reference. It makes no difference to me whether others read them unless they wish to discuss something. After I've completed a review or made notes, I like to scan other reviews to see the similarities, if any.
