If any of these elements is removed, craft beer just stops being fun.

    -A) BMC, anyone?
-B) Well, that was interesting... at least I caught a buzz.
    -C) Where da whiskey at!?

Because it contains alcohol. Why else?

In a more serious note, because it's the medium for the conveyance of alcohol which is the single most varied as far as diversity of flavor is concerned - even within styles that have relatively strict guidelines, there's incredible variety between different beers. Celebrator and Korbinian share some base characteristics, but are worlds apart in actual drinking experience. It's also a medium for alcohol conveyance that ranges from getting one's buzz on in short order, to drinking pint after pint and still having one's cognitive abilities left relatively intact.

I'm also something of a bourbon advocate, and there's not the range of different flavors and drinking experiences involved there - and definitely not the ability to pound bourbons in quantity all night long and still be able to form sentences!

My love for beer is a heritage from my dad. He was born and raised in a tropical weather and now we live in a hot weather city. I remember my fridge full of beer since I was a baby, even my mom tells stories about me moving beer bottles to find some milk in the back of the fridge when I was a child. My father is a rare beer lover because he talked about taste notes and aromas, water difference and stuff like that of mexican macro brewers since I can remember, even when everyone else just did it to get drunk, he enjoys opening and drinking a nice beer now that they are available here. It´s because of him I did research and got into de craft beer world.

I feel like the main reason I drink beer is two-fold: I was never into liquor when I was younger because beer offered the variety of choices that I didn't yet understand in liquor & its a social thing for me.

Can't believe nobody's said this yet - I love beer because rating it gets me points on BA. I mean, c'mon.

Definitely agree with this. The variety in beer is crazy. I can't think of anything as varied in flavor as beer in any type of food let alone just alcohol.

Not a scotch drinker, couldn't answer that. Do you think the differences between two scotches could be as big as the difference between a Saison and an imperial stout? With all the different styles of beer there is a lot of variety of flavor.

If you're willing to spent the money, pick up a bottle or two. Single malt scotch is pretty much distilled beer.
