There was a beverage distributor in the town I where I went to high school. They had a huge sign on the front of the building. In 3 foot tall letters it proclaimed - "Beer is Cheap. Beer is Fun."
That pretty much sums it up.

It's delicious. It's enthralling. It's simply yet intricate. It's beautiful. It's fun. It brings the best kind of people together. The artists, the nerds, the fanatics, the visionaries. I'm waxing poetic here, but beer is a life changer. So here's to the demise of the big guys and to the rise of the little guys.
So prosit, slainte, salud, skal, skol, cin cin, and a thousand others.
    Cheers ************s.

It gives me the same depth of decision based on mood as wine. I like beer more than wine because of the complexity i find in pretty much every style. I also appreciate the drinkability of several styles v. wine drinkability.

I love beer for various reasons. The taste, the feeling (the buzz, not the drunk, not a fan), the times together with good friends or good food, and the times alone with a good book or crossword. I just wish it didn't cost me 18G's in student debt at Wazzu to figure out my love affair with it, though.

Many more reasons than I could really articulate with words.
The absurd, I-have-no-life amusement of being 2 hours early to a can release just to be first in line.
The moment of triumph when a friend approves of your latest homebrew experiment.
The vital social lubrication the alcohol provides, especially to the terribly introverted...like myself.
The total guilty pleasure ego boost you get when friends marvel at the wax sealed whale you pulled from your cellar to share on a special occasion.
That first sip of your favorite standby beer after a long day of work.
The pride you feel when a local brew becomes said standby.

    I could go on.

Props to OP! I like this question because this calls for some reflection. IMO, taste alongside alcohol's effects are synonymous. But, I really enjoy the hunt; finding a new beer to try is fun. Also, I work in Asia and I've travelled a lot, so trying new beers from various countries is always enjoyable (quality is always questioned, but experience is cherished). Beer bonds people together. It's a good hobby as well.

On another note, my brother lives in Sydney as he's married to a fellow Aussie. He says the craft beer industry is growing there! I visited Brisbane and Sydney and toured the XXXX brewery in Brisbane, which included four 330 ml. beer tastings. XXXX beer isn't the best, but the fresh stuff on draught was good!

Delicious whisky coming from there. My go to Islay is Ardbeg 10, but I do fancy me some Talisker 10 year peaty whisky a little more myself.

Even though nobody believes me, it's because I like the way it tastes. The buzz is also good haha. But 99.9% of the reason is the taste and variety.

I don't consider beer to be art, but if I did, I would also have to consider hot dogs, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and hot chocolate to be art as well.
