Gannsett isn't too bad. I was at an event in Narragansett last week, and it was either gansett or Budweiser.

Because some nights at my watering hole, I'll go old school and get a king can for $2.

I'd take ice cold PBR over Newcastle most days to be honest.
I like a good standard US adjunct beer now and then and PBR has more character than Bud and Miller products and at a lower price. I Like Leinenkugel's Original, PBR, and Coors Original in that order when it comes to AALs.

It's cheap at bars, combats the muggy Chicago summer, and if you go to a non-craft drinkers house on a hot summer day, they'll probably have a few ice cold tallboys in their fridge. No brainer if your pocket money after rent, student loan payments, and necessities can be counted on your fingers and toes.

Only had it once that I can definitively remember - while partying in Lexington on the way to Louisville for the Derby about 6 years ago. We pub crawled a ton of college bars, so obviously PBR was always within reach for cheap as hell. Was there just to have fun and get a buzz on so craft drinking wasn't even on my radar. Had 3 or 4 of them (PBRs), no better or worse than hitting the Lonestar truck (old truck with a bed full of ice and Lonestar) back in New Mexico when hanging out in bars there. Moral of the story and the answer to why do (did) I drink it is somewhere between "when in Rome" and everything has a time and place. For better or worse, I find those times and places a hell lot less frequently than in the past.......

Its funny how a lot of my friends defend PBR and say its better than most other crap beer. The only reason I ever go for PBR is if its like two dollars, im that broke and want to drink with my friends.

We did a "BMC style" blind taste test yesterday and my friend who claims PBR is his favorite of the adjunct lagers chose it as the worst beer... so I'm proxy voting hipster for him.

There's far worse. PBR is more malt than anything, it's not as carbonated as Budweiser, so it's a bit less filling. It's a typical AAL , not sure what people are expecting for the style, but it is exactly right for the style. Don't like it stay away from Bmc stuff.
