I like legacy beers. PBR reminds me of my father and grandfather letting me suck up the head from their beers, it also reminds me of college when it was what I could afford. It is still a great ice cold refresher playing softball or boating and I love finding it on tap in dives.

How did you make it through the 70's?

It was the first beer I had when I was thirteen; we got some older guys to buy us a twelve pack at a premium, of course, and then we choked down six of those suckers between the three of us and got all light headed before the sun came up. I put the rest of them in the crawl space under the house and was relieved when probably the same guys that sold it to us came and stole the remaining six cans and I didn't have to worry about my parents finding them. I haven't drank one since.

My grandpa used to drink it. And I've worked for two distro's who gave away cases on Fridays, holidays, etc.. First readily available cheap yellow beer I drank, a lot, as I was 21 while working for one of the distributors. Both places also pushed some REALLY good micro/crafts, so I've always had the association and thought that PBR was at least "on our team".

The worse beer hangover I ever had was from PBR. It should be outlawed.

    THERE'S BOOZE IN IT!

But sometimes, it just scratches that itch. The itch of 'hey, I paid $5 to get in here to see the band. I want to keep my costs down.' Or the itch of 'it's hot as hell. PBR is fairly refreshing.' Or the itch of 'fuck it. I'm just really in the mood for PBR.'

Used to in college. Not so much anymore...when I feel like something cheap and poundable, I tend to tip my hat to a local brew (theoretically, anyway...Rochester brewery notwithstanding, the brand at least is semi-local) and grab a 'Gansett.

I prefer Narragansett, but if I'm at a party and there's PBR to be had, I'll gladly drink it. Hell, sometimes it's the thing do to in a given moment. I've got nothing against it.

It's a classic. Sometimes it's fun to drink the beer yer grandpa drank. Sometimes it's fun to not be a beer dick

Because my favorite bar has the "Brookfield special" PBR and a shot of Malort for $3!

It's possible a friend will pour some PBR into my dead mouth at my funeral, otherwise that vile liquid shall never pass my lips.

I am not sure I ever could be a hipster, 'cause I don't know what they are. I do march to a different drummer however, as those who know me can attest. Oh shit, maybe I am a hipster and don't know it?

I'm not sure it was around in Jersey in the second half of the 70s. Lord knows we weren't fussy about cheap beer.

Of course it was, it was prolific. Pabst was a giant of beer in Jersey and was brewed in Newark from the 40's through the 80's. hard to imagine you missed it.
