I'm flying in from Mpls for the fest this Friday. Do you mind sending me the updated draft list. Much appreciated.

My wife and i have been going to Maxs for almost 15 years now. While we dont get down too often anymore, Id prefer to go on Wednesday night when we can grab a seat at the bar and chat with the great staff who have been there as long as weve been going. Thanks guys!

Next time you stop by, tell the bartender you want to get on the list. Depending upon how busy they are, you may have to ask a couple of times before you're added (they sometimes will lose your information). You can also try sending Casey an email ([email protected]), or just go the website and fill out the contact information.

    Good luck.

Hey Now! Awesome Friday crowd, very reasonable especially considering the weather. List is unbelievable as usual.
Achouffe Houyblon Dobbelen IPA Triple (sweet, but very fruity, good)
Bavik Petrus Red (8.5% Sour w Cherries, mild sour, like cherry juice, ok)
Sainte Helene Black Mamba (stout w Citra & Simcoe, well balanced very nice)
Sainte Helene Grognarde (bitter ale, great low abv beer)
Het Nest Hertenheer (Blonde/Bitter, again a complex, tasty lower abv Belgian ale)
De Struise Black Damnation VII Single Black (Imperial Coffee Stout, on the menu this was listed as 2%(a mistake I presume), but it tasted like it, very thin, no coffee, quite disappointing)
    Best so far:
De Stuise Black Albert Batch Zero (everything an Imperial Stout should be)
De Dochter Belle Fleur (I'm definitely not here for hops but this is one the best Belgian IPAs/Pale Ales I've had, it impressed me last year and again this year)
And props to Big Brewce, it takes balls to bring a homebrew to 72 Hrs, but his strong Saison was very respectable. Oh wait, there wasn't any home-brews there.
Everyone have a blast, be safe.
    See ya Sunday.
    Bill

Single Black is actually 2%, not a mistake.

A couple of the De Struise were kicked Friday. Lots of amazing stuff though.

I waited in line Friday morning, posted up at the corner of the front bar. Had a fantastic time, as always. Got my Cantillon fix (Fou' Foune and St. Gilloise).

Also, I think I love the Jandrain Wheat Saison more than anyone else. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/19658/60781

I got two full pours of that....

    Here's why I love Max's:
I was at Belgian fest today from 11-4. Never felt crowded and never waited more than 2 minutes to order. My friends and I were all enjoying delicious beers and my wife ordered the grilled cheese, which was amazing. In the very last few bites she pulled a string (not hair) out of her mouth and was pretty grossed out. I was just happy it wasn't a pub(ic hair). She took it to the bar and they immediately jokingly said it was theirs then asked what she wanted. She didn't want anything else so they just said no worries; we figured they would just comp it. After a wonderful day of drinking 10 samples, 3/4 of a delicious grilled cheese, and a 350 ml of Cantillon Gueze ($40) my total bill was $33, plus a nice tip. I can only assume they took off the grilled cheese and didn't charge for the Cantillon.

Every year I have a blast, but this year was quite amazing, not even considering the amazing beers I tried.

I was at Max's over the weekend. I was not a fan of the half-hour wait to get in Saturday afternoon - though they did have a lot of really great things on.

The Hof Ten cognac and armagnac were insane. Super drinkable with a lot of complexity. Scaldis Noel on draft was also great, as I'd only had it in bottles up until now.

I just wish Max's was located somewhere that was a hair easier to get to, and a little closer to parking. Still, the walk from the Fleet St. parking garage wasn't terrible.
