If you're cool with a growler why not a 40? More beer, all the time, crack open a craft 40!

Lagunitas 32oz Sucks was a cool idea, but if you can get a 6-pack the price per oz is always cheaper, why ever buy the 32oz?

Forties? I don't think so. Considering what is charged for bombers, can you imagine what a forty would go for?

Shelf space. The stuff that you get in forties isn't usually available in 12-ounce cans or bottles. I'd hate to see the smaller formats pushed off the shelves in favor of the larger ones.

uhhh. i mean, 40s are basically less convenient in every respect, unless you need to get as much alcohol as possible in one container.

warm up faster, stay open longer, heavier, force you to finish or waste, etc etc. why in the world would you want your beer to be a 40 unless there was a significant cost cut (which there wouldn't be, see 22oz bottles)? what's less convenient about 3~4 12oz bottles/cans? having to open them all?

I've pondered and posed this question every time the bomber debate pops up. The most prevalent answer is "bombers are better for sharing". I'll never be able to wrap my head around this reasoning.

no get a growler with pint and a half (give or take) 64oz is enough. there is enough bitching about 22's.... why just why??

yeah, the only reason to buy a bomber is "i want that beer and i can't get it in any other format".

Considering the way sucks quarts rot on the shelves I doubt 40s of most craft beer would fair any better. People mostly only buy larger formats if that's the only option.

I'm drinking Weihenstephaner Festbier right now, and I can't think of a single reason why a 40-ouncer of this stuff wouldn't work ... I mean, that's an idea!

40 oz. of Rochefort 10, however? Not so much ...

How big are the pints you drink if 64oz is about a pint and a half?

Call me a savage, but I'd love to have a forty of Full Circle, a tube on the river and a bucket of ice (floating bucket).

I wish more craft breweries would try their hand at malt liquor. Could be a fun venture.

I totally agree. The only issue I see would be the novelty of the style. How many "Craft" Brewers would like to take this step but end up having the sales Flop. If I had a successful business, I would do this just as a local one off without the fear of losing any huge revenue. I would love to see the overall response even if it was accepted or refused.
