Had one in my hand when they came out but put it back. Wish I bought it and saved it. Plastic if I remember.

    Enjoy

Lots of bombers have switched to 12oz the last few years. I just bought a 4 pack of Big Black Voodoo and it was 6 cents an ounce less than bombers were. Big plus is at 12.5% its easier to commit to opening one.

    Enjoy

It's too much beer to drink in the style typical of craft (unless split between a couple people)..it half the beer would be warm by the time you get to the last 1/3rd. With Mickey's / OE etc, at least you can crush that pretty quickly, at least when I was 19..

Imperial pints are a thing here, too. That's still over three pints to a growler.

i know that is why i said just get a growler instead of a 40, 2 pints vs 3.2 pints. Far too much hatred of the bomber format that a 40 just seems as silly.

I had to Google this to find out what it is. I was much happier not knowing.

People complained about the price per oz of the quarts of Sucks for the most part. If they charged $4 to $5 for a quart, I'm sure there would've been much less complaining. I also think if Sierra Nevada started selling 40s of their Pale Ale for $4 to $5, there wouldn't be much complaining about that, either.

The caps were plastic (unlike macro brands which typically use a "roll on" aluminum screw-off cap or twist-off crown) but the bottle was glass.

Oh yeah, I remember. Was just wondering if they kept the 32 oz format after they brought the 12 oz bottles back as a year round offering.

Apparently not; the website right now, today, this minute, lists the beer as available in 12 oz 6 packs, 12 oz 12 packs, and draft. No mention of the quart bottle which is easily the "new Coke" of craft beer, both in terms of flopping, AND in terms of (IMO) ultimately driving demand for the original product/package. (I believe the hiatus and return also allowed Lagunitas to re-price Sucks in 12 oz format higher than it was previously, but lower per ounce than it was in the quarts. At least that's how it seems here, though it is still a bargain, just not as big of a bargain as before. But that may be a quirk of local distribution, don't know)

They haven't invested in the idea, nor the equipment yet. I think it's a great area to explore because the size of the vessel makes for a one and done. And that's the murky territory to wade through with the 40 and its perception. Because many drinkers of a certain age recall the nights spent with a 40 of Iggy, or perhaps a 64 jug of Mickeys. But I have faith good beer will make hay out of this perception shift soon enough.

From what I'm seeing BA is almost split down rhe middle on this issue. So I think some brewers should go ahead and give it a try. The people who like the idea will get them, those that don't, won't. With that said though, I think I've been going about this the wrong way. You don't need ice cold forties, you need beers that work fine piss warm. So I say let's go completely overboard with forties of imperial stouts or quads. At that strength, it would give new meaning to all day drinking. That and what's more bling than a forty oz, that costs forty dollars!

And yes I know, this'd be pure novelty for those of us that still own their Snoop Dogg CDs (or Korn or whatever you drank OE and Mickeys to).

What size growlers do you have up there? Down here in the states, a pint and a half = 24 oz.

Because beer delivery guy already has to lug too many cases of 40's as it is. Adding a few more would send him over the edge. Seriously.

I rarely want to drink 40oz of the same beer, especially something like an IPA or big stout.
For most American craft styles, I just don't know if they're well suited for larger formats.
Maybe something like Fat Tire, SNPA, or Boston Lager, but not most of the stuff usually discussed on BA.

I want to sample multiple beers in a session. I wish every beer came in 6-8 Oz package. Never understood the 16 Oz can craze.

Back in the 60's in high school we'd get quart Schlitz from the few bootleggers we had around. Just right to get drunk on. Too much beer at one time now. 40's would be worse.
