As a North Carolinian I don’t know how to feel about this. Part of me is happy for Wicked Weed because they’re successful as hell and being recognized for that. But the other part of me is sad that when I buy their beer InBev will be getting a cut. Thankfully there are plenty of hyper local NC breweries not yet gobbled up.
Looks like my Funkatorium t-shirt will be demoted to Only Worn At The Gym. There are hundreds of great independent brewers in the US these days. I will continue to support them and discontinue to buy Wicked Weed, as I'd rather my money go to a hard working brewer than a person in a suit who has never made beer in their life.
Well, looks like I won't be trying Genesis now... Shame, I've liked everything of theirs that I've had.
To be fair, there's still going to be hard working brewers working for them. There's just going to be mega rich suits telling them what to do, instead of allowing them freedom to brew what they want.
