IIRC, the original La Bonte did not have Brett.

I'm not familiar with either of those breweries. WW holds themselves at such a high standard that whenever I'm let down by one of their beers, I'm REALLY let down. They can't all be winners, I know, but when I'm paying ~$9 for 12.7 oz of beer, I expect it to at least be very good. Brett Burglar was pedestrian.

Edit: Derp. Totally forgot that Appalachia and Tributary were WW offerings. Probably because I didn't try either of them due to a friend telling me that Tributary sucked and Appalachia contained weird adjuncts that I didn't think could be good in any context. I'm gonna leave up my mistake just so everyone can have a nice laugh.

I was there yesterday afternoon and there were only two bottles of La Bonte left. Brett Burglar was sold out. Brawley's had a little bit of both left though.

Oh and one of the really early sour releases sucked too, Passiflora Blanc.

Starting to wonder whether Wicked Weed is pumping out too many things. Reminds me a bit of Pipeworks. I think they would be better off with fewer beers in distribution but making sure all of them were solid.

I've long thought this. But every few ones they really nail one (Capricious for instance).

I had Brett Burglar fresh like they said and I was like really? Pretty disappointed. Hopefully my 2nd bottle will improve with some age. I picked up a bottle of La Bonte for $11.50 and I hope it's better.

To me, this iteration of La Bonte (and there will be more) has a mellow Saisony aftertaste. I'm not a huge Saison fan, but found this rather enjoyable. I had a bottle last night at the Funketorium as their keg's were not up to the proper temperature for tapping. On a side not, and in the FWIW department, Walt told me last night this version of La Bonte is his favorite Beer (to this point) that WW has produced. Not my thought, but his. Personally, Red Angel is pretty fantastic and I would rate it higher.

My wife loved that beer. Wouldn't say it was the worst just not loaded with tons of in your face flavor.

I thought it was incredibly watery and devoid of any taste or flavor whatsoever. Not sure what they were going for with it, but not surprised it hasn't been made again.

Indeed. Light and watery. She liked it because it was so light. Pretty easy to pick up the wine barrel but that was it. She actually wants it again. I kinda hope they make it again for her sake!

Canvas Series La Bonte. This was one of the better Wicked Weed bottles in my opinion. Will buy more.

Thanks for the input.. do you think it's better than Red Angel, or Black Angel?

I had La Bonte pre Brett addition so I cannot say 100% but as far as sours go, I would say red angel is their second best sour. Second to Framboos Morte. IMO

Had red angel on draft only though.

Popped my bottle of La Bonte today, it's pretty damn good. Not super sour, but tart enough and very funky. Great color too.

I liked (didn't love) Brett Burglar, but I didn't care at all for La Bonte w/ Plum. It tasted like flavored seltzer water to me.
