I wonder how much they'll cost. Seeing as I am going out of town the next week for a week I dont know if it will be worth the trip to Asheville/Roomboard/ticket price.

Would love to know when these tickets will go on sale and for how much. So it sounds like the bottles will be released on Nov. 1st after midnight then when the party ends? Is that right? So I not only have to pay for the tickets to the party, but then also have to pay for the 6 bottles as well?

I'm a little confused too. How about I don't want to go to the party. I just want to buy some bottles. Any info on that?

Running a beer release AFTER people have been drinking for hours in the evening on a 'party' night sounds like a positively horrible idea...

Every Wicked Weed release I've been to has went very smoothly, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt until they prove otherwise. Sounds like a really good time and a very interesting beer.

SC, BASC, ORF ....... tasting party until 2am, bottle share all night, doors at 8 with beer on tap, sales at like 10am. Those go off ok - I trust this will be ok.

BASC drinking stops a couple hours before the actual release and drinking picks up again only about an hour before release. I assume its the same for SC and ORF. And again, its not a 'party' night like Halloween is. I hope it goes off well as well, but chances are decent that it'll be... interesting.

Every release I have been to at Wicked Weed (and the Funk Fest party) were handled exceptionally well; I wouldn't expect anything less about this release.

Stop being a Negative Nancy and start being a Positive Polly. It's beer, it's a party; it's bound to be a good time!

    @treznor has a point

Name another bottle release that happened at dark, during prime barhopping hours.

DLD? Starts @ 10am, in Group D you usually don't get bottles until 10-11pm.

You're reaching, and what kind of barhopping are you doing around 3floyds? Not the same environment.

Point is 99% of bottle releases are done in broad daylight.

Let's not act like Asheville is a large city that will purchase all of these bottles in one evening.

The original Serenity release was the same bottle count and lasted weeks in Asheville with a 12 bottle limit.

I agree that they will not sell out in 2 hours if they start the release at midnight and close at 2am. However, a ba stout will bring out more people than a sour and Wicked Weed has become a hell of a lot more popular since that first release. There will be a demand for this beer in the trading market, and that always brings people out of the woodwork.

When Serenity released it had just won gold. It was their first bottle release and happened in the middle of the day Saturday. You can't beat that hype in my opinion.

I know it will sell out, but it will last the weekend in my opinion.

Surprised at how negative most people are in this thread. It's a party with awesome beer and then an opportunity to purchase bottles. It sounds really fun. Wicked weed knows how to handle bottle releases and beer events. This will be a good time. If you can't see that, you should probably just go ahead and sit this one out.

Being skeptical of a midnight bottle release doesn't translate to being negative. I'm not going to sit it out, but I appreciate the advice.

There really isn't any precedent for this type of release, so people will raise questions. No need to ostracize BAs for doing so.

Agreed, I'm not really being negative @dgfair, I'm just trying to be a bit realistic. Wicked Weed can be a bit too crowded for me on the weekend evenings and Halloween is probably going to be more packed than normal, and then toss in a beer release at the same time... I'll agree that their beer releases have been awesome so far (at least the Black Angel that I went to), but this is definitely a different beast like @dailyminefield says.

This party event isn't at their primary location, its going to be at their other location on Coxe Avenue. However, I'm going to run over to WW and get clarification on the whole ticket system thing and the party ticket thing. I had been ... um... Enjoying myself so my mind wasn't working as well as it should have been. With a clearer head, I should get some answers today.

Calling something "a positively horrible idea" sounds pretty negative to me, but I'm not here to debate semantics. Hope you make it to the release and it isn't too crowded for you. The event is at the new sour room which was very spacious at the funk fest, so I would expect there will be plenty of space for everyone. It's also not exactly in the "barhopping" part of town, so I can't imagine people will just be rolling in there hammered and causing a scene.

Well, Twin Leaf is directly across the street and Asheville Brewing is right up the street, but Treznor knows that. Clarification will have to wait until Monday when the bosses show back up. For certain, to assure getting up to 6 bottles you have to have event tickets. As a consumer I suppose I have a choice but it is unsettling this method.
