Your getting 12 bottles if you bought 12 bottles. They aren't tossing in more for free. Just changing the allocation.

Depends on a lot of factors. Coffee is a fickle beast. In most beers coffee doesn't fade so much as kind of 'expire'. Leave a pot of coffee overnight and you'll see what I mean. As the nice aromatics break down it gives most coffees almost a vegital, green pepper taste that most find unappealing. However in some beers like BCBCS '13, they coffee in that seems to hold up really well. It probably depends on how they brewed the coffee into the beer (cold press at the end, rested on beans, or at the boil) and how well the beans they use actually hold up to varying conditions.

What I am really interested in with this beer is I am expecting a coffee / barrel punch to the face with slight brett notes fresh and over time the coffee will fade back a little, take on a slight vegital quality that will enhance the tequila flavors that also become slightly more muted over time, allowing the funk to shine a little more.

Should be an interesting beer to hold on to.

Yeah they sent out an email earlier this week. Not sure why they changed it or if they had planned this all along, but I'm not complaining.

After the festival, I can only say I'm glad that the 6 bottle preorders sold out so quickly and stopped me from purchasing them. Had both variants on tap, and while they are solid beers, they are not worth anywhere near the $20/500mL price tag IMO. Oddly enough, the 2014 on tap I though was a lot better than any of the 2015 variants despite having tasted like bad cottage cheese when fresh. It gives me hope for my one bottle of 2014 that I have hanging around. The 2015 lacked both sourness and tequila notes, which are what I really went for. They were still good beers, but I'm glad I didn't blow money on bottles. The real stars of the night were New Belgium's Peach Oscar and Backwoods Bastard.

I agree with you on the tequila and sourness, but that's why I liked this year so much. Didn't have the espresso, but I was blown away by the regular. I prefer this year to last, both fresh and with a year age. I do think that this year should be drank fairly quickly, but maybe age will give the Brett time to show.

That Backwoods Bastard was terrific. Easily my favorite of the night. I actually didn't enjoy the Expresso as much as the regular. >shrugs< The regular was tasty and I will enjoy it in the future.

Couldn't agree more. Great beers until that tequila bite on the end. Couldn't savor either. Very glad I had no bottles, and just pours of each. The tequila barrel was no question a mistake.

Had some when I picked my bottles up today and I enjoyed the regular 2015 better than espresso and I felt the 2015 was better than the 2014. To me the 2015 just had more body and a better mouthfeel and I thought the balance with the tequila worked out well.

(IMO, of course. I shouldn't say "no question a mistake," but I didn't care for that bite at the end on either. Nice big mouthfeel, espresso very present on that varietal, and then that twist at the end killed it).

Surprised people aren't raving about these. I haven't drank any of my espresso yet but I thought the regular 15 Tequila variant was fantastic. It was not at all sour which is a good thing IMO. And the Tequila barrel notes aren't dominate but are present enough to balance out what would otherwise likely be a cloying sweetness. I thought it was fantastic, far exceeded my expectations.

(Note: this was from a bottle, have not had on tap).

Just left with our Sixer. They're very pretty in the bottles. My girlfriend had a 3oz pour of the dark arts but won't tell me how it was. I got the Oscar peach which was fantastic.

I was pleasantly surprised by the tequila barrel. I'm usually not a fan, but this one was a home run. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to try the espresso.

Maybe it was just me, but I got almost no tequila from the 2015. Maybe it was just masked by the sweetness for me. I did try the other tequila barrel-aged stout they had on tap and thought the tequila came through a lot more on it.

Last year's bottle, at least when fresh, were quite unappealing to me. This year's was good, but I thought the 2014 with age on it was a far more unique beer. I thought the 2015 needed something else to balance out the very strong sweetness, though they did a surprisingly good job of masking the abv, especially considering its freshness.

Glad I dodged this bullet! Still have a 2014 bottle I need to open.

I've noticed this as well, both years so far, the lack of abv bite is very evident which must come from the aging process?
