    Rather than start a new thread that gets answered quickly I'll ask this here. I'm heading to Asheville this weekend and was hoping to get a couple growlers to go. Do they fill outside growlers at the pub or do they only sell ones bought on site? I've got a 64oz stainless I'd like to get filled so I can ship it to someone.

    Pretty sure they only fill their own growlers.

    In NC most breweries (including WW) only fill their own way because the way the law is written the growler has to have all of the business information on it.

    Wicked Weed will only fill their own growlers.

    Anyone know if Serenity will be available again - BA lists it as "brewed once," but I have a hard time believing they won't re-release a brew that won gold. I don't see a date on the bottles. What do you folks think?

    My favorite bottle shop in Charlotte has continued to get bottles regularly. I think they released a second run of bottles sometime recently but I'm not sure what the story is with that.

    I'm curious about this law. So what about Appalachian Vintner? They profess the "confines of North Carolina law", so is it the business who is filling it? I've had my own (non branded) growlers filled at Growlers Asheville and Asheville Brewing and they said nothing.

    Honestly, it's a bit ridiculous (and wasteful) because I don't have space to store and carry around growlers from every brewery or establishment.

    They way I read it there seem to be few places (breweries included) that actually adhere to the letter of the law on growler labels. Here's the exact wording for what legally must be included:

    04 NCAC 02T .0303
    (b) Growlers that are filled or refilled on demand pursuant to Rule .0309 of this Subchapter shall be affixed with a label or a tag that shall contain the following information in type not smaller than 3 millimeters in height and not more than 12 characters per inch:
    (1) brand name of the product dispensed;
    (2) name of brewer or bottler;
    (3) class of product (e.g., beer, ale, porter, lager, bock, stout, or other brewed or fermented beverage);
    (4) net contents;
    (5) if the malt beverage is fortified with any stimulants from the original manufacturer, the amount of each (milligrams) per container;
    (6) name and address of business that filled or refilled the growler;
    (7) date of fill or refill;
    (8) if the malt beverage is more than six percent alcohol by volume, the amount of alcohol by volume pursuant to G.S. 18B-101(9); and
    (9) the following statement: "This product may be unfiltered and unpasteurized. Keep refrigerated at all times."

    Thanks. Now that you mention it, Growlers Asheville and Asheville Brewing did affix labels.

    I bought some Serenity a week ago at Wicked Weed... Didn't appear to be an shortages in the bottle stock. Took some up for the relatives up in Chicago to try.
