I have a friend who recently moved to NC and is willing to mule me back up some bottles when she returns North sometime in February. I've only ever had Pernicious and Incorangeible from Wicked Weed and loved them both. I understand that they make some great sours/wilds too. Can you guys point me to some that I should have her look out for? I'm not asking her to wait in lines or scour 100 stores for this stuff. Just want some solid recommendations for things that aren't too hard to obtain.

I really enjoyed Brettaberry, Puzzle Pieces, and Medora. I've seen these on shelves all over Raleigh and Durham.

Not a Sour but make sure she brings you their DIPA Freak of Nature...that and their Passion Fruit Gose were my 2 favorite WW Beers when I was there around Thanksgiving

Didn't mean to imply that I only like sours. I'm a huge IPA fan and I'm specifically asking her for them too.

That's about half way between Greensboro (also Winston-Salem) and Charlotte. All three cities have good bottle shops with Wicked Weed available.

There really just aren't a lot of bad Wicked Weed sours. There are some that I'm not a huge fan of, but some of those have been listed in this thread, so obviously opinions differ  There aren't lines for WW unless you're talking about going to the brewery for a release (which is great and all, but not necessary to get good WW beer). And distro has been sorted out pretty well in the last 12 months or so (maybe 18?) so its fairly easy to get a wide range of WW beers. Some of them come and go, but if you're just looking for something from them instead of something specific that shouldn't be an issue.

My advice would be to suggest some fruits that you do and don't like and have that guide the decisions (along with making sure to pick up some of the non-fruit sours as well).

Now there's 1/7 Pernicious here in town. Just in time for the Panthers game this weekend!

Now there are two things that have officially been kicking ass and taking names as of late - The Panthers & Pernicious!

Seriously though, it is hands down the best NC IPA right now IMO, tell her to get a lot if she can find it fresh!

That means it's probably just as fresh here in atlanta.. The Freak sitting around is from Oct... Pernicious seems to stay the freshest here.

Admittedly- WW's hoppy beers haven't changed much after some time in the bottle to me, so I'm not quite as picky with them.

For the first couple months we were getting it, Freak was always fresher here in the Triangle at least, and it moved faster. Now I'd say Perny moves faster. I still really like both, but Pernicious has evolved into the better beer IMO at least currently.

I agree and while I hate the smaller than normal format - pernicious is so good and the beer just fits the bill in most cases. So drinkable and tasty!

I initially hated on the smaller format but I've come around to it. A 4-pack of that is perfect for a football game. I can put back 4 of them pretty easy and not be trashed.
