I'm fine with my wife not being into most of what I drink...saves us money and more beer for me.

Though she did really like the New Glarus Belgium Red...she liked it more when she mixed it with red wine. I guess that's a breakthrough? Drink what you enjoy!

My wife only likes ciders and sours. I could care less what she drinks, she still isn't coming with me on my few beercations every year: DLD, FoBAB, GABFEST, etc...

Sours aren't the best cost per volume. Thank god for The Bruey and the HS discount so I can stock the fridge with BW12, SitRwK, Oude Tart with Cherries. Having already came home to her drinking a sour reserve batch 1, WWBO, Deviation I needed to make it clear what an everyday sour is and not to just grab something that looks sour.

Boulevard wheat is one of the greatest gateways into craft beer, especially for ladies

Luckily, my wife loves all kinds of beer

I got my girlfriend into craft, mostly ipa's/dipa's, Belgian pales and wheat ales. Now she can't drink any beer that's not craft and blames me. She still can't get into stouts, although she likes kbs a little and after tasting my sump at a bar she ordered her own glass. Most styles are still out for her but hey, at least she likes some good beer!

Of many beers I have encouraged her to try, my wife has liked only 3 beers:

    Hunahpu
Sour in the Rye with Kumquats
    Raspberry Tart

At least she spit out the Westy so I don't have to try and hunt that one down to make her happy. But these aren't exactly shelf turds.

My wife has pretty much disliked everything I've let her try, except one. Founder's Blushing Monk. Yeah, good luck finding that again anytime soon (and she's not a fan of Rübæus).

My wife is really big into sours and wild ales. I've started her with Berliner weisse beer now. Of course, New Glarus is her go to. It's my way out on spending too much on my beer because her shit ain't cheap.
Others that work, Lambics, Flanders Oud Bruin, and barrel aged beer.

My only successes have been Pumpking, Saint Arnold's Pumpkinator and Weihenstephaner. Especially the hefe and dunkel.

As for sours, she only liked the taste of Atrial Rubicite but couldn't have any more than that.

Everything else to her is either too bitter or just gross.

my wife is disgusted by all beer. occasionally, if she wants to join me in a drink, she will have a mikes mango hard lemonade. however, i may have opened my moms eyes to good beer the other night. i had my parents over for dinner, poured my dad an on the wings of armageddon and myself a burton baton. then apologized to my mom for not having any wine or a gin and tonic or something for her, as she is not a fan of beer. i decided to say "mom, this beer i am having is a blend of two beers that is then aged in oak barrels, it's incredible! want a taste?" she said ok and i gave her my glass. she took a sip and the reaction on her face was priceless. no words were necessary. I said "you can have it" and went and got something else instead. she finished it and really liked it.

My wife is a sport. She's never been a huge beer fan extent of her beer drinking is Mich Ultra, Select 55, and Corona. you get the idea. but she takes a sip of every craft beer I crack open hoping she'll find one she likes. So far I've got 3 she can drink without making faces or some crazy comment. Deschutes River Ale, Kona Longboard Lager, Two Brothers Dog Day's. It's a start .

I remember how I started my wife on the path to brew. I started with, god forbid, mich ultra and then quickly transitioned to German pilsners. Moving along to ambers and then before I knew it she is hogging my bourbon county stout! It's okay, I drink her good wine so we get along. I am still contemplating if it is even a good idea to try to get her to like sours which she hates.

Just think, the money we would have to spend if our wives liked sours....

At least one woman has posted. As for the predomination of men posting, I'd suggest that you look at the overall membership of the site which I would guess is also predominantly male. Go figure.

But isn't sharing what marriage is all about? What's mine is yours and what's yours is yours. Or something like that.

I love this thread... I have the same issue with my wife and I'm trying to find out what she likes. I figured starting her out with some Lambics & Sours, because those huge BA Stouts is a little too much for her.

So far she likes the Bruery's sours... Bemangoed was bomb and it's her favorite so far. Got a couple of New Glarus coming in from a trade (traded away a Rue D'Floyd). I hope she likes it.

Had a similar situation with my wife. Although she liked most beer she didn't like any IPAs until the first time she tried Heady Topper...then various Hill Farmstead IPAs... and she was sold. Heady Topper is now her favorite beer. Now I have to split my Heady hauls with her and not trade any of it away, I've created a monster! Lol But in all seriousness, I don't mind as I love enjoying good beers with her that she also enjoys. Also makes it easier to convince her to take a beer trip to Vermont.
