Hey y'all... My wife is going to Houston to visit my brother and his fiancé. We live in SC and she said that she would bring me back some cool stuff that we can't get here. Any recommendations??
    Thanks for the help!

I recommend she comes to Austin, where all the good Texas beer is made.

Other than that, I've got nothing.

My brother went to UT for grad school and he said the same. We get come Jester King here ins SC and I'm convinced they don't make a bad beer.

So get the great Texas beer elsewhere?

They do. They just pour it out though . Seriously JK should do $3 or $4 (or free since they dumped it) growler fills of the "bad" stuff. It would be gone as fast as it takes to dump it. And let's be honest, some of our "standards" are waaaay lower than Jeff and Ron's.:stuck_out_tongue:

We have Peticolas and Lakewood headed in the right direction. Some other solid selections elsewhere... Poop on you Mello!

Community is probably one of the higher rater breweries in all of Texas as well.

But we don't have a sour brewer, so obviously our beer is crap. Let the elitist Austin crowd miss out on our good Dallas beer, more for us

I wouldn't go that far. We don't have a Real Ale or Jester King. We don't have history and consistency, so IMO we're not close to comparing our breweries to theirs.

I disagree. I have been wowed by nothing they have put out so far. Nothing bad, just nothing that makes me go back for more. Slightly disappointed. In fact Four Corners has made a couple of beers that were more impressive than Community so far.

Have you had Mosaic IPA? That beer is way better than anything coming out of Four Corners IMO.

I don't think Matt likes mosaic hops is the thing though? Not 100% sure, I don't recall him saying something favorable about Dirtwolf or Hop Ranch.

I honestly forgot Mosaic was Community... brain fart? Mosaic is all they have for me. I'd still take Four Corners Celebracion over it though. I recognize I'm the minority on that but when you can make a Brown wow me you've done something truly special.

Airon I drank so much Dirtwolf it hurt. Love Mosaic hops.

Four Corners is being distributed today in DFW (or at least close to where I live for the first time), so looking forward to trying them. I still want Lakewood to be better at what they want to be. They have potential, but think they are just off. BBA Temptress has the potential to be just a top 100 beer, its close but they can still get a lot more out of in IMO.

He meant pretentious vinegary sour flavored beer. And that's a yeast infection honey, you should probably do something about that.

So she's on the hunt tomorrow... Where should she go? Anybody know any awesome salesman at stores that can put her in the right direction??

    I agree with you 100%.

We have Peticolas and Lakewood but they are definitely not comparable to Jester King. I do love me Velvet Hammer and Temptress though.

Community just hasn't stand out to me. I feel like it isn't anything special, just moderate beer.
