I am looking for a base recipe of Wild Leap's Alpha Abstraction. AA is an awesome beer and I would like to try to make it at home.

I know this seems weird but have you emailed the brewery and asked? Most will respond with malt % and hops used and yeast and the rest is up to you to experiment with. My good friend loves French Broad Breweries “13 Rebels” ESB. So I wanted to make it to share and I emailed them and told them what I wanted to do and they emailed the recipe back and even scaled it to 5 gallons for me. They also said I probably would be able to get their house yeast and referred me to comparable one. Cheers hope it works out

That stinks, maybe their ultra busy and can’t respond to emails. Next best thing is too keep brewing your best guess until you nail it. Just change one variable each brew to know what you did. Maybe save a bottle from each batch to do compare after several batches in?

The few breweries I’ve contacted for info on recipes have been forthcoming, almost eager. Schoolhouse Brewing in Marietta, GA even publishes scaled down recipes on their website.

Wild Leap has had no less than 12 versions of Alpha Abstraction, and it looks like they might have used different varietals/timing of hops in each version. Is it possible your queries to them have been too broad? Consider asking them about a specific, recent release that's not in current production, and explain that it’s for homebrewing (maybe you already did that??).
Beyond that they might just be tight-lipped.

riptorn, I have contacted the Brewery several times in three years. What I ask for is a base recipe (percentages) and a yeast strain. AA, from what I know, is practically the same base, but finished with different hops. Each AA tastes the same, except the hops.

    Thanks for the brewery link.
