What do people think about this place? I was thinking of hitting it tonight with some friends. They seem to really know what they are talking about and their beers are all above average ratings on here. At a glance, I didn't see anybody mention any flaws, which is good for such a new brewery. If I have a place doing these types of beers well, this close to me, I will be one happy camper.

I was there shortly after they opened, which is usually a terrible time to go to new places. There were 5 beers that ranged from good to excellent. No flaws in any and most were highly drinkable. Best local saison I've had. I am excited to see these guys develop over time. Definitely worth hitting and the space is just fantastic.

Hands down one of the best opening lineups to date in regard to quality. They table beer, which was the first beer brewed there was a group favorite.

Good things to come of this place.

@opwog For sure go. Ive been twice on opening day and the following Sunday. All the brews were very good in a nice Industrial setting. Taproom is great with open Garage doors and when there take a look at the Foudres impressive. Saisons and a table brew for now and a couple of wild ale's. Their Wild Ales will evolve to something very good down the road.

I went last Thursday and they now do 8oz pours, which is a great volume to try a few beers, but still be able to fully enjoy them. I like the Dark Farmhouse and Hoppy Rye Wild the most. I don't think they've used their coolship yet, but they have some barrel fermented beers going.

Had two of their beers along with the kombucha. I had a hard time believing they poured them from separate taps as how they all tasted so similar. They were not bad by any sort.

Hands down the best new brewery in the Twin Cities. They knocked out great beers right away . This place wipes the floor with Modist/Inbound who had more resources and should have been great but delivered severely average beers.

I'll bite. I will be in MPLS and staying at an airport hotel Wednesday night. I was contemplating the drive from the airport to St.Paul (during rush hour) to go to Barrel Theory and then this thread popped up. Wild Mind is certainly convenient to the airport so should I go there instead. If so, I would appreciate recommendations from the current tap list.

This depends on what your styles you prefer. Barrel Theory is pretty committed to the Hazy IPA/Pastry Stout/Fruited Kettle Sour thing but does them as well as anyone. At Wild Mind you'll get more variety as well as a strong selection of barrel fermented and mixed culture beers. They are both excellent breweries it just depends what you are looking for.

Anyone have the Humulus Luau that was released over the weekend?

PM Rush Hour is pretty bad on all HWY's headed west from MSP(Wild Mind). Barrel Theory is not as bad at rush hour take 35E (North) exit Shepard Rd (east). take Sibley Ave and then right on 7th and your are there. If you have time go to both.

So right now it's 18 minutes to Barrel Theory.
    15 to Wild Mind.
Both could suck, but I'd have to agree Barrel Theory might be easier getting off Shepard than getting to Wild Mind.

You could take Hwy 5 (Fort Rd.) and get right on Shepard Rd. from the Airport. Heading west at rush hour never good. I would hit up Wild Mind a couple hours later if @brentk56 you have time both are great.

Thanks, guys. My starting point at 5:00 is at France Ave and 494 in Edina so it looks like I can take some back roads to Wild Mind if the highways are jammed at that time.
