So, I looked at the "new" comments and I actually am starting to get a bit offended (by the homebrewers). Are we really this fucking sensitive?

Some pretty self-important homebrewers out there, it seems.

I'd say the vocal minority, or more likely just trolls at this point.
I bet BW3 didn't expect this backlash lol, the dangers of the internet I suppose.

    Here's an idea:
Let's find a group of people, show them that they are being ridiculed, laugh about it, and then pretend to be suprised by their reaction. Yes this ad was done half in jest, but it was also done wholly in earnest.

The ad sets homebrewers up as straw men; the homebrewers' own reactions set them up for (deserved) ridicule.

As satire, I think that the commercial is actually quite well done. I am sure that there are plenty of people out there that, because of everyone of us here, have an impression of homebrewers that is not too far from the mark set by that commercial. If the commercial offends you, then I suggest that you need to get over yourself.

Well, they just lost the "let's brew a pale ale with chocolate, bratwurst, rhubarb, chamomile, espresso, goat urine, and vitamin B tablets" demographic, also known as the roughly 20% of first time home brewers who dump $1000 bucks into equipment, brew five shitty batches, then quit. Anyone who has brewed for any length of time recognizes the idiot in the commercial, and sees the humor. In my opinion, anyone offended is likely telling their friends "oh yeah? They only think that's funny because they gaven't had MY bratwurst beer!"!

Same here. Not to mention their beer prices are through the roof.

There's often a big difference between craft beer and homebrew though.

Sure, not if you ask a homebrewer that can't admit his own failings, but that is the very gist of who they are making fun of in the commercial. The insular homebrewer (nice touch with the cat) who is a little too into his own creation, trying to be the focal point, bothering those who just want a good tasting beer and to watch the game (or worse, purchase/bring superior commercial brews), rather than trying to subsidize his failed creation with statistics and numbers.

As one who has had to run the proverbial gauntlet of horrible tasting homebrews, I appreciated the commercial.

Let's say they had "[made] fun of" home cooks instead of homebrewers, and run a commercial implying that attending a dinner party where the host prepared the meal would be a horror show of a similar scale. Imagine they imply that, as a rule, crappy processed food is better than home cooking. It wouldn't resonate. It's contrary to the experience of too many people. That's how I feel about this commercial. It's unfunny and it doesn't resonate with me. But I certainly respect the opinion of anyone who disagrees.
