Did a search but seems every thread about wildwood was a few years old. Heading down with the family next week and looking for some info. Anywhere special I should hit?
Cape May brewing is a must. Slacktide and Ludlam Brewing are nothing special at all, mediocore at best IMO, but if you're doing one you might as well do the other since they are only like 5 minutes apart.
Crest Tavern is a nice local's bar/bottle shop that's worth hitting up, generally a decent craft selection. Goodnight Irene's has a lot of taps, pretty much all craft, but can get a little crazy later in the night.
I second both Cape May Brewing and the Crest Tavern. Also, Tuckahoe isn't too far away that you couldn't shoot up there for a couple or a growler to take back with you.
If you're coming from down from NY or anything more North you could hit Carton and/or Kane on the way down the turnpike too. Otherwise, I agree with the options above.
Ship n Shore if you're looking for cheap beer and a pool table. oh, and a dive. it's definitely a dive.
Carton and Kane are not off the turnpike they are off the Parkway. That's ok because you wouldn't take the turnpike to Wildwood. You take the Parkway. So depending on when you are traveling, a stop at either would be a good idea
Joe Canal's is not the worst place to stock up on cans for the beach. At worst you'll come out of there with a trunk full of Sculpin.
I suggest you come to Sea isle city to the Sandbar and Ocean Drive for a great lunch a little sun and some local craft beer and ludlam bay has a few new and delicious brews Harry's and a Kolsh I could be a little prejudice they are my friends also Levaris seafood bar and grill on your way down or back try the Establishment 2 of the best chefs I've ever worked with
Goodnight Irene's is the go-to place for the island's best craft selection and the food is decent too. You can also check out the list for the Crest Tavern on beermenus.com. There are a couple of good places to check out in Cape May which is just another four miles down the Parkway.
Collier's Liquor Store in Cape May gets Carton cans in, if you're looking for some beach Boat brews. I'd call ahead though if you plan to head over. Would tie in that stop with Cape May Brewing Co, if you decide to do either.
Has anyone been to 7 Mile Brewery (I believe this just opened this month) or Cold Spring? I am going down to Wildwood next weekend and know that I will stop by Cape May Brewing, but wanted to see if the other two were good stops.
I can't help you out with the other two but I visited Cape May brewing last weekend and took the tour and drank four sample pours. IMO Cape May Brewing is very solid!! Cheers!
I was at 7 Mile for the opening last weekend....really crowded by the way. Anyway, the beers were very good, the DIPA was excellent, I highly recommend. So for sure if you are in Wildwood hit Cape May Brewery, 7 Mile and Coldspring Village (I have not gotten to Cold Spring but heard they have 4 solid beers on tap). On the way back stop at Joe Canals in Rio Grande and pick up some nice bottles, they have a very nice selection.
@RJIV I haven't had these beers but another brewery you could visit is Slack Tide: http://www.slacktidebrewingco.com/ Cheers! P.S. They had these beers pouring at a Music event at Congress Hall on Labor Day but I only drank Cape May beer while I was there.
