Any advice on where to stay with in walking distance. Never had the pleasure of trying anything from them as I live in Denver. Any advice on how to make the most of it. Thanks

From 5 minutes of googling it looks like your only option is to walk 2 miles.

There's a Country Inn and a Quality Inn both about two miles away.

Doubt there's cab service in town but maybe a friendly local would give you a lift.

Checked a couple of b&b websites but they all looked book for this upcoming weekend.

Hotel winnesheik is about 5-10 minute walk to the brewery. There are also some options on airbnb.com and some other bed and breakfasts within walking distance. I went to college in decorah and still go up to the brewery quite a bit. Shoot me a bm if you have any questions or need any other info.
    Cheers!

airbnb.com would be my recommendation as well. My wife and I stayed at a really neat place downtown and it was similar cost to a hotel. Go to the TG taproom, have Mabe's deliver pizza there. Then swing into Whippy Dip for ice cream and hit Courtyard and Cellar for nightcap beers. Have fun, Decorah is awesome!

Yep - check AirB&B, or Hotel Winneshiek - those are your best bets for sure.
Definitely hit Courtyard/Cellar for sure. They have an awesome selection of beers, great atmosphere, often live music, etc. It is my favorite place in decorah easy. Magpie is an awesome place for lunch.

Thanks for the Info. I am planning a trip in July with my dog. Is TG dog friendly? Any idea what Bottles will be available at the Tap House around mid-July?

I Should arrive in Decorah Friday, July 19th, I believe. If anyone would like to arrange an IP trade, I can bring a few Colorado goodies, WEED EXCLUDED! I'm not looking to end up in Federal Pound You In the Ass Prison on this trip.

I've never seen a dog at TG.

In case you're looking for a cab, there is a cab service in Decorah. Their number is posted up at the TG taproom, and I've seen them running around town before.

We brought our dog and for the SR-71 release and we asked if we could have the dog on the patio and we were told no.

I believe the health department won't allow dogs within a food/beverage establishment. Don't think it's a TG decision. Heck, Decorah has drinking fountains for dogs, so it's a dog-friendly town.

Last we heard (three weeks ago), TG doesn't allow dogs on the patio. It has nothing to do with state law. They just choose not to allow them.

Very, very tough to get a cab, though. Sometimes you get lucky. Other times, they just don't show up. I wouldn't rely on it.

Did this trip recently and stayed at the winneshiek. It was extremely inexpensive, I think $150 for a really nice room the night we stayed, free parking too which is a major plus. The bar in the hotel also serves TG. A quick walk to TG. Take a right out of the hotel, walk a few blocks, another right, over the river, then you're at TG. Went to la rana for dinner which again was inexpensive and quite tasty. They had a few TG beers on tap as well. Courtyard was a fun stop and mabes to cap off the night was perfect.

Too far out to tell on what bottles will be available.

I was just there last Friday after the New Glarus release. Lots of bottles available for purchase but just the "regular" guys, nothing extraordinary in my book. Bought and tried the new 12 oz FL bottled PseudoSue and I think that it is missing something. Perhaps the tasty Decorah water? This sentiment was echoed by some locals at the bar.
Hopefully you'll get lucky for your visit and they'll release something special.

    DD,
Thanks for your response. Did you see bottles of Rover Truck? I think that might be as good as it gets for me. Also, a bottle, or two of Dorothy would be a welcomed sight. I was thinking of driving up to New Glaras, but I am probably going to have to wait for another road trip.

check Rubyiat and Courtyard in Decorah for potential bottles that you might not even find in the taproom. Might cost you a bit more... but only a couple bucks. Also, "The Co-op" on mainstreet has a really nice bottle selection with some hard to find beers. They generally have some TG beers.... but also lots of other really great brews.

You don't have to go all the way to New Glarus to get a good supply of their beer. Prairie DuChien, WI is about 45-60 minute drive from Decorah. "Starks" generally has everything you could want from New Glarus.

Starks only had two different TG bottles on Friday morning and were limit 3 I believe.
Pretty sure the pub had Rover Truck. I bought Zeelander and the aforementioned PseudoSue shorties.

Yes! I can neither spell the city nor pronounce it correctly but its Piggly Wiggly had a nice selection (core lineup plus fruits) of New Glarus ... and fresh cheese curds Fridays!

I've never seen a dog at TG. New Glarus is dig friendly if you wander up that way. And quite beautiful, too.

ha.... yeah - piggly wiggly in Prairie DuChien also has a good selection of New Glarus as well. Between that place and starks, you can get almost anything New Glarus.
