One of the more pessimistic TV economists was last week predicting the S&P could drop to 4500 by the end of the year. It now looks like he was unduly optimistic. At this rate the S&P will hit 4500 next week.
I'm not sure they'll figure it out. It's easier to con someone than it is to convince someone that they've been conned - even when it's all laid out in front of them..
Of course! If I know that the foreign option is too expensive for you, I'm going to go ahead and raise prices.
And a computer chip plant will take longer to be fully operational. Then we will have to build the chip manufacturing machines. . people just don't get it. It's not 1950 anymore.
Also the United States does not have the same natural resources as every other country in the world to produce every raw material. Or the climate to grow every type of agricultural product.
But we have a ton of natural resources, and can grow a lot of stuff. Maybe we could trade them for the things we don't have, but need? At value using currency?
A few weeks ago I asked my local brewer if the tariffs on Canadian barley would be an issue. He said not so much as he sourced more German and British malts for the lagers and ales respectively. Oh well, that was back then.
Might be worth more up there than down here on earth before too long. (How? Don't know. Air travel gives me vertigo, so I've never been. But I've worked on Wall Street. Literally, ON Wall Street [I drove a truck delivery corporate and legal paper and computer records] not like those effete brokers and analysts who work inside climate-controlled buildings located on Wall Street. I mean, I would have liked to get a spot on their tiny loading docks but UPS and FedEx had some crooked deal with the buildings freight guys.) Seems pie-in-the-sky. How would such a complex system possibly work in a world full of different corporate interests and varied consumer cultures? People outside America speak different languages, use different money - hell, their machinery is put together with METRIC hardware! Their standard, what looks like a 12 oz. beer, contain only 11.2 oz.! Their "pints" contain 500 ml. (< Milly Leaders? Whoever the @#$% she is!) except for the 14.9 oz ones! Anarchy!
Funny, I just checked my 401k yesterday - "going to the moon?" - no, how about going to the shitter? 13.6% drop in my 401k value since Jan 1, thanks to the orange baboon and his fucking with the economy with these stupid tariffs (i.e. taxes) and other asinine moves.....crazy, that my same 401k saw over 20% growth the past 2 previous years (and I have not made any changes in my investment choices, until yesterday) - hey MAGA, are we feeling "Great" yet.....holy fuck, what a shitshow
