Anyone use one of these? The ad says it's for Rubbermaid coolers. I have an Igloo Ice cube cooler that I use for a mash tun and I would really like a built in thermometer to monitor temps throughout the duration of the mash.

Do you think it would fit another brand of cooler? Can anyone who has one tell me the wall thickness of a Rubbermaid brand cooler?

I don't overly trust spring loaded thermometers anymore. Thank Alton Brown for that one. I'd also be worried about cracking it a few too many times with the mash paddle while doughing in.

It looks like that'd be fine to thread through my cooler. I'm at work and can take a measurment of my tun when I get home. I don't think it's more than a couple of inches.

If the "1 3/4" long threaded stainless barrel that is 5/16" thick" is just the first 1/3 of the therometer, I think you'll have some room to play.
