My in-laws are heading down to Wilmington to visit some friends. They said they will bring me back some Beers from NC. I need to make this as simple as possible for them. What is the best bottle shop in Wilmington or immediate surrounding area? What is available right now that I should have them pick up for me( other than Hop Drop because that's a must)? Thanks in advance for the help.

Lighthouse Beer & Wine is the best bottleshop that I am aware of near Wilmington. It is located in Wrightsville Beach, just over the bridge. As far as availability goes, Hop Drop is hit or miss depending on when they can and how quickly the establishment sells out. Also, as far as I know you have to pick it up from the brewery, which is a haul from Wilmington. You, could very well find some Olde Hickory Imperial Stout or Irish Walker. There may even even be some Event Horizon floating around down there. I'm not sure if any of the Wicked Weed stuff makes it that far east, but that is also a possibility with Genesis just being released (in limited quantities of course).

Agree that Lighthouse is the best store around. However, the only place that carries Hop Drop around here is Fermental and it's pretty hit or miss, so I would maybe call before your parents are going to be in town to see if they have any in stock. Otherwise, I would just sent them to Lighthouse. Wicked Weed doesn't make it down this way either unfortunately. They will likely have most of the 750 ml Mother Earth special releases- the Tripel Overhead is great and so is the Fig & Raisin Dubbel if you like belgian style beers. Also, Fullsteam's Cack-a-lacky is a ginger pale ale that is a great warm weather beer. Not sure if you guys get Bruery stuff, but Lighthouse tends to stock lots of that and all of the GI Sisters (except Juliette) are still sitting on the shelf. Hope this helps!

I know Fermental just sold out of Hop Drop the other day, theyre waiting for the brewery to catch up and then they willl get more in stock. Anything from Olde Hickory is worth picking up, and bottles of foothills Jade are worth picking up as well. I personally prefer Fermental over Lighthouse, but either is great.

Thanks for all the info. We get Bruery beers here in MI. I will have them look for Olde Hickory beers and Jade for sure. Maybe they will stumble across some Hop Drop if I get lucky

Remember that retailers wish to carry NoDa Hop Drop'n Roll and that they have to drive to get it. From Wilmington to Charlotte and back is a pretty good day. Bestway in Greensboro sells as much as they can get very quickly. I want some more soon. Call ahead for sure.

And after the gold medal in WBC the demand has risen significantly. Shops in the Triangle were driving and getting 30 cases, now they are only allowed 10, while others have been shut out completely....

There may be some other beers you could be interested in check Seekabrew.com to get a pretty good idea of what we get different from you. I know there are 4 different bottles of Cascade Sours on the Shelf right now.

Some notables are allagash, balast point, cascade, great divide, hopping frog, terrapin, uinta, and weyerbacher.

Then all the locals Big Boss, Duck Rabbit, Foothills, Fullsteam, Green Man, Highland, Lonerider, Mother Earth, NoDa, Olde Hickory, Olde Mecklenburg, Pisgah should be available in some form or fashion. (other than probably NoDa)

Any date on when they're coming? NoDa just can't keep up with the demand, and they won't be selling us (Fermental) any for at least another few weeks or so. I'm sure around mid-late May we will have some back in stock.

I have a few cans left still from a trade but I would be down for a trade in the future.
