I will be heading to Wilmington, NC this weekend and wanted to get some recommendations for beer related activities (best bottle shops, breweries, tours, etc.) to check out. I’ve never been and just started researching things to do and see; especially beers that don't distribute to SC. Would love to take a small haul back with me being my birthay is the 14th - appreciate any input!!

Here is a fairly recent thread on this very topic.
And the Wilmington place guide is also a good start.
    Safe travels; cheers!

I have heard good things from friends about Lighthouse Beer & Wine as well as Fermental. (bottle shops).

That lighthouse beer and wine is a sick place. I went to Wilmington last year for a wedding and that place has a cool side beer garden where you order draft beers from the window. Mostly hot ladies enjoying drafts too, I was blown away and jealous I don't live there. Great bottle shop, beer garden, growlers to go. Great stuff on tap. If you head towards the beach.

Guys at Lighthouse recommended Wilmington Brewing Co a few weeks ago when I was there and they had some solid stuff. About 4 different IPAs, a good gose, some stouts plus others. Definitely would stop by if in the area.

Wilmington Brewing Company/Wilmington Homebrew is great. Whenever I go down to visit family I typically end up there. They always have some good brews on tap and are very helpful if you happen to homebrew. Quite friendly too.

Cape Fear Wine & Beer was pretty cool too...neat little place with a good selection from what I remember and it's not far from Front Street Brewery

I stopped by Hey! Beer a few weekends ago (I've been to all the others in the area) and was impressed.

In Carolina Beach I can really only think of Good Hops Brewing and Island Beverage. A little ways before the bridge there's Candy's Exxon which actually has a surprising selection.

If you find yourself in the Ogden area of Wilmington, hit up Fermental and I'll buy you a beer! Every one else has been pretty much on the money, though. Wilmington Brewing is a must stop.

Had a great time in Wilmington guys! Found a lot of similarities to Charleston where I live! Definitely want to get back when I have more time to explore. Was there for a wedding at Bakery 105 and had a blast. Wish I could have made more visits to the shops but only made it to Wilmington Brewing while I was there but was a solid choice!

Also made it out to the Fat Pelican about 3 times on Carolina Beach as it was within walking distance (was in no shape to drive most of the visit).

All-in-all I can't wait to get back and looking into the possibility of heading up there for Thanksgiving.

Thanks to all who helped me out with the info! Was a great way to spend the weekend before my birthday today!!

    Cheers

Hey! Beer has a BUNCH of Wicked Weed right now! They had about 6-7 of the Canvas Series plus 4-5 of the regular sours plus the IPAs when I was there on Monday.

Thanks for the heads up! Going to check it out for sure! Never gotten to try the wicked weed and really been wanting to get my hands on their ipas. Any chance they will have any BCBS while I'm there?

They said they're releasing their limited amount at 10 AM when they open. Regular only I believe and first come first serve. They also just doubled their number of taps to 8 and got their on-premise license so you can get pints! bring a growler if you want a fill.
